Jimmy Garoppolo could play in the NFC Championship Game
Kyle Shanahan stated that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has a slight chance to return for the NFC Championship Game.
The San Francisco 49ers will face the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round of the 2022 NFL season playoffs and if they advance they could have a special reinforcement.
Kyle Shanahan, head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, stated during Friday’s press conference that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has a slight chance to return for the NFC Championship Game. The ex-Patriot could be in squad this week heading into the 49ers clash with Dallas.
“I would be surprised, but it depends on the result this week. I think he has some chances,” Shanahan said when asked about Garoppolo’s availability. “There would be a better chance (of Garoppolo playing in the Super Bowl).”
Jimmy G hasn't played since Week 13 when he suffered a broken foot against the Miami Dolphins. Before the injury, the 31-year-old QB had 2,437 yards with 16 touchdowns, four interceptions and led the team to a 7-3 record.

Hard decision
Choosing between Brock Purdy and Jimmy Garoppolo will be a difficult decision. Last year’s Mr. Irrelevant in the NFL draft became the first rookie to score four touchdowns in a postseason game.
Additionally, Purdy had the third-best first-time playoff performance among rookies with 322 passing yards. Only Russell Wilson, in 2013, with 375, and Sammy Baugh, in 1937, with 335 had more than the Iowa State alumni.
