There could be interesting times ahead in Cleveland if things go the way of the out-of-work signal caller. Having won a Super Bowl in his career it’s not as if he lacks pedigree, it’s now a question of whether he’s the right fit for a team in need.

Joe Flacco works out with Browns but it’s a no-go

As you know by now, the Cleveland Browns lost starting quarterback Deshaun Watson to a season-ending shoulder injury earlier this week. To that end, the Browns will now turn to rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson who is set to start this weekend against the team’s division rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers. While the young gun has shown himself to be capable, it goes without saying that this is not an ideal position for the Browns and as such, they are known to be looking for other options.

This brings us to the latest reports which indicated that former Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, and New York Jets quarterback Joe Flacco participated in a workout with the Browns on Friday. Indeed, Flacco was spotted boarding a flight to Cleveland on Thursday. As per reports, the 38-year-old was actually part of a session that included several other quarterbacks as the team looks to sign at least one to its practice squad.

To be clear, there has been no official word as to who else was in attendance, however, it should be noted that the Browns also have P.J. This is all to say that regardless of who - if anybody - is acquired by the Browns, one has to believe the individual will be behind both Thompson-Robinson and Walker, however, this is the NFL we’re talking about. At this point, it remains unclear as to who the Browns will turn to, and as for Flacco, his hope for another go in the NFL will continue to go unsatisfied.

Joe Flacco by the numbers

Though he’s been out of the league this season, Flacco is an established QB. In the first 11 years of his career, he played for the Baltimore Ravens where he managed to win a Super Bowl in 2012. Following his stint in Baltimore, he would go on to spend just one year in Denver with the Broncos, before going on to play for the New York Jets for three. In both of those teams, he played as both a starter and backup. Most recently, Flacco started four games in 2022, during which he posted a 1-3 record while completing 57.6% of his passes at an average 5.5 yards per attempt - a career low. In total, he recorded five touchdowns against three interceptions. For the
