Justin Herbert puts in standout performance for a losing quarterback
The Chargers were dominated by the Colts, but Justin Herbert had a standout performance. The best ever for a losing quarterback.

The Indianapolis Colts put on a masterclass against the Los Angeles Chargers, earning a 38–24 win at SoFi Stadium. Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh put his faith in Justin Herbert, but the quarterback’s standout performance wasn’t enough to secure their fifth win of the season.
Herbert completed 37 of 55 passes for 420 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also led the Chargers in rushing, adding 31 yards on six carries.
According to OptaStats, Herbert became the first player in NFL history to complete 35 or more passes, throw for at least 420 yards and three touchdowns, rush for over 30 yards — and still lose the game.
While Ladd McConkey was Herbert’s most-targeted receiver, others were more productive. McConkey caught 9 of 15 targets for 67 yards, Keenan Allen led the team with 11 receptions for 119 yards, and Oronde Gadsden posted a game-high 164 yards on 7 catches from 9 targets.
