Kansas City Chiefs release statement regarding abuse allegations surrounding Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs have gone public regarding the abuse allegations faced by Rashee Rice.
The Kansas City Chiefs have publicly addressed recent social media claims that have thrust wide receiver Rashee Rice into the spotlight off the field.
On Wednesday evening the team confirmed they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulating online involving the 25‑year‑old, but stressed that there will be no further details given at this time.
In a brief statement issued by the club, the Chiefs said they are monitoring the situation and maintaining communication with the National Football League.
The statement read as follows:
“The club is aware of the allegations on social media and is in communication with the National Football League. We have no further comment at this time.”

The allegations first surfaced in an Instagram post by Dacoda Nichole Jones, who identified herself as Rice’s former partner and the mother of his two children.
In a series of captions and images, Jones shared what she described as evidence of sustained abuse over several years. The post included photos of bruises and marks, and Jones claimed the person responsible was the father of her children, though she stopped short of naming him explicitly.
Rice has previously faced off‑field legal issues. In July 2025 he pleaded guilty to two third‑degree felony charges after a high‑speed multi‑vehicle crash on a Dallas highway during the 2024 offseason. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, ordered to serve five years of probation, and later missed the first six games of the 2025 NFL season under a league discipline related to the incident.
The wide receiver has emerged as a significant contributor on offence since being drafted by the Chiefs in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Despite that, the team struggled in 2025 and missed the playoffs for the first time in more than a decade.

Neither Rice nor his representatives have released a statement addressing the claims. The NFL similarly has declined to comment on the matter publicly.
