Cowboys at Raiders LIVE
Cowboys beat Raiders, 31-16 to end preseason
Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott didn’t play, but was responsible for much of the win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Prescott was the play-caller for the Cowboys preseason finale, which they won 31-16 under his direction.
Backup QB Will Grier played the entire game knowing he would be replaced by Trey Lance come start of the regular season. Because of that, though, Grier played his heart out. He ended the game going 29-of-35 for 305 yards and two rushing touchdowns. He also added two passing touchdowns on top of that.
None of the Raiders’ starters played in their preseason finale, and even some of their better backups sat out in their 15-point loss to Dallas. Quarterback Aidan O’Connell locked his position as the QB3 behind Jimmy Garoppolo an Brian Hoyer.

Game time! The Cowboys will start us off on offense in this preseason finale.
Prescott calling the shots
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott will be playing the offensive shots tonight. Mike McCarthy doesn't start Prescott in the preseason, but Prescott sees it as an opportunity to learn from the sidelines.
Rookie to watch: Aidan O'Connell
Raiders' rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell has been one of the biggest surprises of the preseason. Drafted in the fourth round, O'Connell was meant to be the QB3 behind Jimmy Garoppolo and Brian Hoyer, but he may now be contending for the starting job much sooner than expected.
Josh Jacobs is back with the Raiders
And potentially for $12 million.
Raiders running back Josh Jacobs hasn't been participating in the offseason at all and did not sign the franchise tag by the July 17 deadline, but announced his return on social media earlier today.
Though the Raiders did not say the terms of the agreement, sources told ESPN that he could be making up to $12 million in the new deal. He will not play tonight against the Cowboys and is expected to make his return on Sunday.
Zeke may not be with the 'Boys anymore, but he's still in Prescott's heart.
And on his shirt.
Will Grier to play for Cowboys despite Trey Lance signing
The Dallas Cowboys told backup quarterback Will Grier that tonight's preseason game would be his last as their QB3 as they signed Trey Lance from the 49ers.
The Niners traded Lance to the Cowboys for just a fourth-round pick, a low cost for a potentially high reward. He's only 23 and has a lot of potential still in him, while backup Cooper Rush is a seasoned veteran, and Grier has not proven himself as a worthy QB3.
Grier will, however, play the full game against the Raiders. Even though he won't be playing for Dallas this season, he's now got to prove himself to all 31 other NFL teams.
Grier has played just two regular season games with the Cowboys in his rookie season, going 27 of 44 for 224 yards with three interceptions in his first start. In his second, Grier played less than two quarters before being injured on a sack. In the 2023 preseason so far, he's gone 35 of 39 for 335 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions and has been sacked six times.
