Los Angeles Rams 9 vs 24 San Francisco 49ers live: stats, scores and highlights | NFL Week 4

Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Fransico 49ers beat the Los Angeles Rams for the seventh straight regular season thanks to a dominant defensive performance.

The San Fransico 49ers continued their regular season dominance over their division rival, the Los Angeles Rams, from Levi’s Stadium  Monday Night. Jimmy Garoppolo passed for 239 yards and a touchdown in the 24-9 victory.

Seven straight regular season win for San Fran

It was a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship that sent the Rams to the Super Bowl. The Niners won both regular season games between the two teams, but when LA and San Fransico met in the playoffs it was a different story.

Monday night’s win was the Niners seventh straight regular season victory over the Los Angeles Rams as the defense contained Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp.

It's no secret that the Rams are a bit thin at the wide receiver position, and it was never more evident than against San Francisco’s defense. Stafford completed 32 passes, 14 of those were to Kupp who set a career high for receptions in a game, and 10 were caught by Tyler Higbee.

The Niners defense was able to keep the Rams out of the end zone the entire night, as LA entered the red zone three times and had to settle for three field goals. On top of holding the Rams to single digits they sacked Stafford seven times throughout the night as they never allowed the LA QB to get comfortable in the pocket.

Samuel and Jimmy G bring offense to life

Garoppolo came out of the gate firing on a night in which he silenced a lot of the doubters and critics that were chirping after San Fransico’s loss to Denver last week.

The Niners gunslinger led an opening possession drive that was finished off by a Jeff Wilson Jr. 32 yard touchdown run to put the home side up 7-3.

In the second quarter, up by one after an LA field goal, Deebo Samuel showed exactly why the Niners paid big bucks to keep their super star play maker with a jaw dropping 52 yard catch and run for touchdown to extend the lead to 14-6 going into the halftime break.

Hufanga ends night in fashion

It seemed as though the Niners were dominating the game, but the Rams remained with in striking distance until the fourth quarter. Kyle Shanahan’s side matched an LA field goal in the third quarter on the second play of the final quarter to take a 17-9 lead.

Mid way through the fourth quarter, Matt Stafford had the Rams offense marching down the field, but the drive came to a crashing halt when Talanoa Hufanga jumped a WR screen and made the game clinching 52 yard pick six to put the Niners up two scores with 6:27 to go in the game.

Garoppolo was under fire for much of the week after his team scored just 10 points in Denver last week, but Jimmy G did not have a preseason and is just starting to get into game shape. Monday night’s game was just a glimpse of a quarterback that is starting to find his feet. He went 16/27 for 239 yards and a touchdown and Deebo Samuel had six catches for 115 yards and a touchdown.

Stafford three for 254 yards but was done no favors by his offensive line who allowed pressure on their quarterback all night.

The Niners will now head east to take on the Carolina Panthers looking to push their record above .500 while the Rams will hope to rebound next week when they host the Dallas Cowboys.

The Niners kept the Rams out of the end zone the entire night and in the 4th quarter, Hufanga put the nail in the offin with this pick six that caused an eruption at Levis Stadium.

Tonight's odds

The Niners may be 1-2 but they come into tonight as two point favorites with the Over/Under is set at 42.

The Niners have had the Rams number in the regular season and I think they continue tonight. Jimmy G and the offense will finally wake up tonight and the game should go over 42.

Garoppolo looking to find his Rhythm

Jimmy G took over the starting duties after Trey Lance suffered an ankle injury in Week 3 against the Seattle Seahawks. He went 13/21 for 154 yards in relief of the Niners QB1, and had 211 yards one TD and one INT in the game against the Broncos last week.

Stafford leading league, in INTs

Matthew Stafford is averaging more than 250 yards of offense through three games, but his TD to INT ratio is among the worst in the league. He has just four TDs and five INT which is tied for the most in the NFL. The Rams need someone to help Cooper Kupp on the receiving corp. Tight end Tyler Higbee has been Stafford’s number two, but only Ben Skowronek has over 100 yards receiving yards out side of those two.

Last year's match up

The Niners got the best of the the Rams in both regular season games. San Fran blew out LA 31-10 in the first game of the season, and then went to Sofi Stadium and bested the Rams in overtime with a Robbie Gould field goal to seal the 27-24 win. The Niners had a chance to get a third win of the season over LA in the Conference Championship, but gave up 13 points in the fourth quarter and Matthew Stafford and the Rams punched their ticket to the Super Bowl. It was LA’s first time beating the Niners in six tries. Before the NFC Championship they hadn’t beat San Fran since December of 2018.

Jimmy G in the spotlight tonight

The Niners  are back home return home after their second road trip of the season, and all eyes will be on Jimmy Garoppolo to get the offense going out of the gate tonight in front of the home fans.

Lights, camera, action in San Fran

The Rams know Levi Stadium well. They have lost their last three regular season matches under the Niners roof, and Matthew Stafford will be looking to change the tide tonight for Los Angeles as they look to stay at the top of the NFC West.

Niners last game

San Francisco comes in to tonight hoping to forget about a pitiful offensive performance against the Denver Broncos last week. The Niners took a touchdown lead on their second possession of the game when Jimmy Garoppolo found Brandon Aiyuk for the night’s first touchdown, and the the Niners offensive shut down. After the TD they wouldn’t put a drive together of more than five plays the entire night. The defense did their part, keeping Denver to just 11 points and 261 total yards, but the SF had an interception and a fumble on their final two drive and lost 11-10 to drop to 1-2.

Los Angeles last week

The Rams might be 2-1 coming into tonight’ but they have been far from convincing up until this points. They got crushed by the Bills on opening night, and then barley edged out the Falcons in Week 2. Last week The Rams jumped out to a 13 points lead and held their divisional opponents off the rest of the way. Matthew Stafford had 249 yards, and the running game scored both touchdowns in the 20-12 win to keep the Rams at the top of the NFC West.

We are live from Levi Stadium

Hello everyone and welcome to San Francisco where we have a showdown between two teams who need no introduction. The Rams and the Niners met three ties last year, and while San Fran won the season series, the Rams won the game that mattered. Last time these two franchises met was in the NFC Championship and the Rams earned their ticket to the Super Bowl with a 20-17 home win.

Rams vs. Niners live
