Major update on Micah Parsons as his Cowboys future hits turning point

The Cowboys-Micah Parsons saga has to end eventually, but it may not end as we initially expected as the team is now willing to listen to trade offers.

UPDATE: Parsons has been traded to the Green Bay Packers, becomes highest-paid non-QB

The Micah Parsons saga never needed to be a saga. It could’ve ended months ago, before Trey Hendrickson and other defensive ends upped the market. But Jerry Jones couldn’t let it be that easy. Instead, it turned into a drama, because the Cowboys are a “soap opera 365 days a year”.

Now, instead of extending their best defensive player, the Dallas Cowboys may be looking to trade him away.

Report: Cowboys now listening to Micah Parsons trade offers

Before all this drama began, Parsons was quite clear that he wished to start and finish his NFL career in Dallas. He had no desire to leave. Fast forward six months, and he’s asking to be traded and saying literally the opposite: I don’t want to be here.

It was Jones’ antics that pushed him over the edge, eventually requesting to be traded. While initially, that seemed like an empty threat to get the contract negotiations going, now it’s not so certain.

On Thursday, the contract standoff took another dramatic turn. According to ESPN, the Cowboys are now willing to at least listen to trade offers for their All-Pro pass rusher. While no deal is imminent, multiple teams have already inquired, and an aggressive offer could spark serious movement.

Parsons, who requested the trade earlier in camp, has not practiced with the team, while citing a back injury, though tests have cleared him to return. Any trade would hinge on the massive contract extension Parsons is expected to command, one that could reset the market for edge rushers. With the season opener just a week away, Parsons’ future in Dallas appears more uncertain than ever.
