Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr, one of the the biggest-name players still in free agency, is reportedly poised to join the Miami Dolphins ahead of the 2024 NFL season.

Beckham’s Dolphins contract details

According to NFL Network insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, Beckham has agreed a one-year contract worth a potential $8.25 million, with the 31-year-old to earn a guaranteed salary of $3 million in Florida.

Beckham: the NFL story so far

Miami will be the fifth NFL team of Beckham’s career. An LSU graduate, he was drafted as 12th overall pick by the New York Giants in 2014. After earning three Pro Bowl selections in five years in the Big Apple, he was traded to the Clevelend Browns, spending two seasons in Ohio before being cut in 2021.

Following his release by the Browns, Beckham was signed to a one-year deal by the Los Angeles Rams, playing a key role in the Californians’ qualification for Super Bowl LVI. Although the Rams beat the Cincinnati Bengals at SoFi Stadium to earn the player the only championship ring of his career so far, he suffered an ACL tear during the victory.

After spending a year recovering from the knee injury, Beckham joined the Baltimore Ravens on a 12-month contract ahead of the 2023 season. During his year with the Ravens, he registered 35 receptions for 565 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.

What other WRs do the Dolphins have?

Thanks to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s growth under head coach Mike McDaniel, the Dolphins last season boasted the best passing offence in the league in terms of yards gained, and the fourth-best in terms of touchdowns.

In Miami, Beckham will join a group of wide receivers led by Tyreek Hill and also featuring Jaylen Waddle, Braxton Barrios and Anthony Schwartz. In the 2024 NFL Draft in April, Miami also brought in WRs Malik Washingon in the sixth round, and Tahj Washington in the seventh.

Dolphins out to end barren playoffs record

The Dolphins, who last won the Super Bowl in the 1973 season, have reached the NFL playoffs in each of the past two years, but have been eliminated in the Wild Card round on both occasions. The Floridians have not progressed to the Divisional playoffs since the 2000 campaign.
