Dallas police clarify situation on Dak Prescott sexual assault charges
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback was accused of a sexual assault from 2017, but local police say they will not proceed following an investigation.
The Dallas police will not press charges against Dak Prescott, the quarterback of the Cowboys, over an allegation of sexual assault stemming from an incident in 2017, as reported by the WFAA television network.
According to the television network’s report, the police found no evidence to substantiate the woman’s accusation. Consequently, the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office informed WFAA through anonymous sources that there was no crime to pursue.
Police ”found nothing” against Dak Prescott
In early March, Prescott filed a lawsuit against the woman for attempted extortion. The legal team allegedly attempted to extort the Cowboys’ quarterback for $100 million in exchange for not disclosing the alleged assault that occurred in Plano, Texas, in the parking lot of a strip club. Taking this into consideration, the QB filed the civil lawsuit.
“I want to thank the Dallas Police Department and Dallas County District Attorney’s office for their thorough investigation of the allegations,” read the statement from Prescott’s attorney.
“As we knew they would, they found nothing in their extensive exploration of the facts that would support a criminal prosecution. We are confident that at the end of law enforcement’s investigation into the extortion case that they will find the accuser and her attorneys just as guilty as Dak is innocent. As I have said from the beginning, Dak is a great football player, and an even better human. He would never assault any woman.
“These false accusations were brought up 7 years after the alleged events for one reason and one reason only - to line the pockets of the accuser and her attorneys. Their behavior is an affront to all the true survivors of sexual assault.”
Prescott to give any money won to charity
Prescott denied the accusations through his lawyers, who labeled the letter as extortion. The Cowboys’ quarterback stated to Front Office Sports that he aimed to receive one million dollars with the lawsuit and planned to donate it to the Joyful Heart Foundation. This organization aims to assist survivors of child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault.
