The exact extent of Mike Evans’ hamstring injury remains unclear for now, after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver aggravated an ongoing issue during Monday’s defeat to the Baltimore Ravens.

When and how did Evans suffer his hamstring injury?

Evans was forced off in the second quarter of the Week 7 game at Raymond James Stadium, after appearing to hurt himself as he stretched to reach a Baker Mayfield pass into the Ravens’ end zone. The 31-year-old could be seen clutching the back of his right thigh in evident pain, and the Buccaneers subsequently confirmed that he would be unable to return to the contest.

Evans had been nursing his hamstring in the days leading up to the Ravens clash. Indeed, the problem had prevented the five-time Pro Bowler from taking part in practice on Thursday and Friday, before he was a limited participant in Tampa Bay’s Saturday session.

Before leaving the game against the Ravens, Evans had become only the 11th player in league history to bring up 100 career receiving touchdowns.

“We’ll see” - Bucs boss non-committal on Evans injury

Speaking to reporters after watching his team go down to defeat, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles confirmed that Evans had suffered a recurrence of the same hamstring injury, but could not offer any details about the gravity of the WR’s latest issue. “We’ll see how bad [it is],” Bowles said. Asked whether the indications were that the injury was now more serious, he reiterated: “We’ll see, I don’t know yet. I’ve got to get all of the details.”

Godwin also injured

And after losing Evans, the Buccaneers were then dealt a second injury blow at wide receiver, when Chris Godwin appeared to suffer significant ankle damage in the final quarter. “Early indications are that it’s dislocated,” Bowles told reporters. “It doesn’t look good.”

What is the Bucs' 2024 record after Ravens loss?

Tampa Bay’s defeat to the Ravens leaves the Floridians with a 4-3 record in the 2024 NFL regular season. In Week 8, the two-time Super Bowl champions have a second home game in a row, as the Atlanta Falcons visit Raymond James Stadium on Sunday October 27.
