Netflix reveals Joe Burrow’s breaking point with the Bengals
Netflix brought to light a deeper issue within the Cincinnati Bengals organization in the second season of “Quarterback” when Burrow had a meltdown.

Netflix’s Quarterback Season 2 features Joe Burrow as one of the main characters. And it paints a clear picture: Burrow is carrying the Cincinnati Bengals, and it’s weighing on him. Despite delivering one of his best seasons, Burrow’s frustration mounted as the rest of the team struggled to keep up.
“We sucked today”: Joe Burrow’s brutally honest sideline moment
The Bengals had a rough season in 2024, finishing at 9-8 and missing the playoffs for the second year in a row. But Burrow is not to blame. He was the main reason the Bengals had the best passing offense last season. But the team just simply did not perform to his level.
By Week 3, after a narrow 38–33 loss to the Commanders, Burrow told backup Jake Browning, “Tough when you play damn near perfect and lose.” The tension hit a peak in Week 15, even after a win, when Burrow snapped at head coach Zac Taylor, saying: “We sucked today. That was embarrassing.”

The documentary subtly reveals a leadership imbalance - Burrow’s intensity outpaces Taylor’s calm, player-friendly approach. The Bengals’ failure to reach the playoffs despite Burrow’s elite play adds to the growing sense that something isn’t working in Cincinnati - and it’s not Burrow’s fault.
While Burrow doesn’t indicate he wants out, the docuseries makes it clear: he’s frustrated, competitive, and not okay with losing.
