Netflix’s NFL Christmas Day broadcast shatters streaming records
For the second straight year, Netflix brought the NFL to homes around the world, and set streaming records in the Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings game.

’Tis the season for streaming. That’s at least the saying around the Netflix and NFL offices after the dust settled and the ratings of the NFL’s Christmas Day games were made official.
Christmas Day NFL triple header
For the second straight year, Netflix and the NFL partnered to broadcast a couple of Christmas Day games, and the viewership once again made streaming history. Netflix had two of the three NFL games on the 25th of December, while Amazon Prime had the night game to close out the Christmas slate.
All three games on the two streaming platforms totaled an average 22.9 million viewers in the US, which was down five percent from last year, but the numbers were still impressive given the three games carried very few playoff implications.

Netflix brought the two early games between the Washington Commanders and the Dallas Cowboys and the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions to viewers in over 200 countries. The early game between the Commanders and Cowboys brought in an average of 19.9 million US viewers.
Lions-Vikings breaks Netflix record
The afternoon game between the Lions and the Vikings broke records, becoming the most streamed NFL game in the US history, surpassing last year’s record by more than three million average views. Last season’s game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans had 24.3 million viewers, and the game from U.S. Bank Stadium had an average of 27.5 million viewers.

The halftime show from Minnesota headlined by Snoop Dogg averaged 29 million viewers in the US, and was a social media sensation. Netflix reported that the halftime show that featured Andrea Boccelli, KPOP Demon Hunters and Lainey Wilson created over 632 million social media impressions.
Amazon Prime had the late game between the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs, and that game had an average of 21.06 million viewers. While the Chiefs were out of the playoff and Patrick Mahomes was sidelined in the game, it still broke the streamer’s record of biggest audience since it started broadcasting Thursday Night Football in 2022.
