Giants 7 vs 38 Eagles summary: score, stats, highlights | NFL Divisional Playoffs
The Philadelphia Eagles are on their way to the NFC Championship after blowing out their division rivals at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday Night. The Philly ground game totaled 268 yards in the 38-7 thrashing of the New York Giants.
Hurts hurts no more
Philly came into Saturday night’s game after a weeks rest thanks to their one seed in the NFC and the time off looked like it worked wonders for Nick Siriani’s team. Jalen Hurts and the rest of the Eagles got to lick their wounds during the bye, and came out like a team that smelled blood.
There were plenty of questions surrounding the status of Hurts’ injured shoulder during the week, but the Eagles QB put those doubts to rest in the first two drives of the game. He went 5/5 on the first series of the night and polished off the possession with a 16 yard TD to Dallas Goedert who dragged the pass in with one hand, broke a few tackles and dove into the end zone.
Philly’s defense suffocated Daniel Jones and the Giants offense for all four quarters. They started their night by forcing New York into a turnover on downs, and the Eagles would double their lead on the next possession with a six yard Hurts TD pass to Devonte Smith to take the score to 14-0 before the end of the first quarter.
Eagles D shuts Jones down
After a career high game against the Minnesota Vikings last week, Daniel Jones was brought back to earth by the Philadelphia defense, going 15/27 for 135 yards and was sacked five times on a night where he never looked comfortable in the pocket. He threw a pick at the end of the first quarter to dig the Giants into an even deeper hole, and New York would never recover.
Coach Siriani’s team was using efficient, quick strike drives in the first half to build a big lead. Boston Scott ran in a three yard TD, and Jalen Hurts ran in another TD right before the halftime break to lift the Eagles to a 28-0 halftime lead.
Running game carries Eagles to NFC Championship
In the second half the Eagles showed how effective they are at killing off a game. Hurts barley threw the ball in the second half, finishing the game 16/24 for 154 yards and two TDs and a rushing TD. It was Kennth Gainwell and Miles Sanders who took the game over in the final 30 minutes, running all over the Giants defense while draining the clock down. Sanders had 90 yards on the ground while Gainwell led all rushers with 112 yards and a touchdown late in the game to put the cherry on top of the Eagles Divisional Round win.
The Eagles will now await the winner of the Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers game tomorrow night. The winner will meet the Eagles next weekend at Lincoln Financial Field.

After the Giants failed to convert on fourth down Hurts doubled the lead with this 6 yard pass to Smith and it looked like the Eagles had this game in their pockets in the first quarter.
Boston Scott is one of the smallest, if not the smallest guy on the field, but he took it to the Giants on this three yard run to put the Eagles up 21-0 in the first half.
Just in case there was any doubt, Jalen Hurts put the nail in the coffin right before the half with this 5 yard TD run.
We're to quick to give all the credit to Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense, but in the first two drives of the game Philly turned the Giants over on downs and picked off Daniel Jones.
There were doubts about the status of Jalen Hurts' injured shoulder coming into the Divisional Round of the playoffs, but the first drive showed us everything we needed to know. He was on target, his arm was as strong as ever and he even took a few hits on some QB keepers. He finished off the drive with a 16 yard pass to Dallas Goedert

After Jones hit James for an 11 yard pick up, Brieda takes the direct snap out of the shotgun and takes it 8 yards for the TD to finally put the Giants on the board.

The Eagles couldn't have had a better start to the game, after starting the game with a TD they got a turnover on downs which set up ths Devonte Smith TD.
If there was any doubt about Hurts and his shoulder the first drive told us everything we need to know. He hit Dallas Goedert for the games first TD on the opening drive of the game.
The Giants have just 64 yards and three first downs.
Jones is 6/10 for 57 yards and has been sacked twice, while Barkley has just 7 yards on the ground.

It's not just the Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense. The defense is just as dangerous as Daniel Jones found out on this 4th down play.

Hurts finds Godert on the left side for a gain of nine on first down, but then Smith is dropped in the backfield on a pass to the flat for a loss of 2.

Tonight's odds
The Giants come into Philly as 8 point underdogs against the top seed Eagles, with the Over/Under set at 48.
I'm taking the Giants to cover the spread. They may not win, but I think they are playing their best football of the season and are going up against a team that hasn't looked their best in over a month.
Game 3 coming up
This is the third matchup between these two NFC East rivals this season. The Eagles won both of the previous games, once in Week 13 and once in the final week of the season. The Week 13 win was a blow out as the Eagles ran for a total of 253 yards and four touchdowns. The Week 18 was a little tighter, but Hurts jumped out to a 19-0 start and ended beating NY by a touchdown.
Saquon sets sights on Philly
Everyone knows when the Giants come into town, Saquon Barkley is going to make his presence felt. He has been New York’s biggest weapon all season, and scored two touchdowns last week against the Vikings. The Giants don’t stand a chance if he doesn’t have a big night in Philly.
Chiefs move on
The Kansas City Chiefs have advanced to the AFC Championship after defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars in Arrowhead. Patrick Mahomes injured his ankle in the first half, but battled back and led his team to a 27-20 victory to secure a trip back to the AFC Championship.
Eagles landing
Who else would be spotlight coming into the stadium for the Eagles. He is the Eagles heartbeat, an MVP candidate and he is coming off of an injury which he still hasn’t quite recovered yet. He has done it on the ground and through the air this season, and the third year quarterback will be looking for his first post season win off his career tonight against a team he knows all too well.
Giants move past Minnesota
The Giants were on the road. They were the underdog. They had ended the season winning just two of their last eight. But they went into Minnesota and beat the three seeded Vikings in a night where Daniel Jones saved his best performance as a Giant for the most important game of his career. He went for 301 yards and 2 TDs and maybe more importantly, he had 78 yards on the ground. Each and every run seem to come at a crucial down to keep the Giants drive alive and limit the Vikings offense. Saquon Barkley scored the game winning touchdown midway through the fourth quarter and New York hung on to win to secure this divisional showdown tonight.
Eagles regular season
The Eagles enjoyed an off week after locking up the one seed in the NFC. They weren’t expected to be the reference setters in the league this year, but under Nick Siriani’s direction and with Jalen Hurts under center this team has skyrocketed into Super Bowl contention. In their final game of the regular season, Jalen Hurts returned after a shoulder injury kept him out for two weeks. Hurt returned at QB, and calm returned to the Eagles before the playoffs. They had lost the previous two games without him, but as soon as their MVP candidate was back under center he led them back in the win column with a Week 18 victory over Giants.
