NFL Fantasy Football: Week 7 starts and sits

As we approach the halfway point in the NFL season, the injuries and question marks begin to pile up. We winnow through the starts and sits for your Fantasy team

Just one week away from the halfway mark in the NFL season, the injuries are starting to pile up. Players are on the injured list or questionable on every team in the league, plus the fact that this week we will have four powerhouses enjoying a bye. The Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles are all resting, which encompasses huge playmakers such as Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, Justin Jefferson, Dalvin Cook, and Cooper Kupp.

On the flip side, we have a few comebacks around the league who could be worth a start, like Tua Tagovailoa who could be interesting in the Dolphins matchup with the Steelers.

Fantasy Football Week 7 Starts

Quarterback

Perhaps the most emphatic start in the league is Justin Herbert, who will be leading the Chargers against Seattle. With the bye week sweeping aside most of the competition, Herbert should be able to earn you some points, particularly against a middling defense like the Seahawks.

Other starts:

  • Kyler Murray
  • Geno Smith
  • Dak Prescott
  • Tua Tagovailoa

Who to sit:

  • Marcus Mariota
  • Russell Wilson
  • Trevor Lawrence

Running Back

The king of the hill as RB2 league-wide is Saquon Barkley, and this week sees the Giants taking on the Jaguars in a matchup that favors him both carrying the ball and making catches out of the backfield.

Other starts:

  • Austin Ekeler
  • Derrick Henry
  • Leonard Fournette
  • Christian McCaffrey

Who to sit:

  • Clyde Edwards-Helaire
  • AJ Dillon
  • Melvin Gordon

Wide Receiver

No receiver in the league at the moment is as explosive as Ja’Marr Chase, and with the Bengals facing a Atlanta, there should be plenty of room in that secondary for him to do his thing. Even with limits on his playing time, as the Bengals injury report suggested might be in store owing to some nagging hip pain, he should put up big numbers.

Other starts:

  • Tyreek Hill
  • Tyler Lockett
  • Chris Olave
  • DeAndre Hopkins

Who to sit:

  • Amari Cooper
  • Curtis Samuel
  • Darnell Mooney

Tight End

Travis Kelce is a must-start this week, as is his counterpart on the 49ers George Kittle. Both of these can lay a claim to best tight end in the league, but in a duel between the two, Kelce is the one to plump for.

Other starts:

  • George Kittle
  • TJ Hockenson
  • Mark Andrews
  • Kyle Pitts

Who to sit:

  • Tyler Conklin
  • Noah Fant
  • Mike Gesicki

Kicker

Easily the most relevant Mr Irrelevant is the Bucs’ Ryan Succop. Making all four of his field goals last week in the loss to the Steelers, Succop is the best bet in the NFL with the kick.

Other starts:

  • Younghoe Kim
  • Daniel Carlson
  • Evan McPherson
  • Justin Ticker

Who to sit:

  • Cairo Santos
  • Eddy Pineiro
  • Joey Slye

Defense

The Patriots defense is a solid top-ten squad, who are currently comfortably placed to deal with the Bears this week. Most tellingly is in the points surrendered category, where the Patriots rank number two. If they keep the Bears to limited points, then they should pay off handsomely in your fantasy league.

Other starts:

  • Buccaneers
  • Packers
  • Cowboys
  • Ravens

Who to sit:

  • Saints
  • 49ers
  • Chiefs
