Update:

It’s tough to be a Dallas fan. The Mavericks traded away Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers and the Cowboys traded away Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. However, the difference in how fans treated the Luka trade is significant to how they treated the Micah trade. At first, the comparisons were there - a generational talent, 26 years old, star of the team.

But a few things were different with the Cowboys - the Micah trade wasn’t a secret, and not all the fans disagreed with the choice. And despite his incredible impact, Parsons was only on the team for four years. Perhaps that’s why owner Jerry Jones isn’t planning anything special for their reunion this Sunday.

Micah Parsons’ homecoming in Dallas: don’t expect a parade

Micah Parsons will face the Cowboys in Dallas this Sunday for the first time since being traded to Green Bay in August. But fans shouldn’t expect a tribute video when he takes the field.

Unlike with other players, such as Emmitt Smith and Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the team won’t prepare a video honoring Parsons. He pointed to his shorter tenure and contentious exit after failed contract talks. Instead, Jones emphasized the franchise is focused on competing, not celebrating.

“I don’t think that’s appropriate this way,” Jones said. “Emmitt [Smith] was a different story. That’s not to diminish Micah. I think Micah has enough welcome out there and we just need to show that we’ve got antidotes for that.”

The decision highlights the bitter split between Parsons and the Cowboys, whose defense has struggled without him in their 1-2 start. Sunday night’s matchup against the Packers, who sit at 2-1, is set to be one of Week 4’s marquee storylines. I’ll be here to bring you all the updates in real time on Sunday right here on AS USA.
