Not Darnold or Walker, this Seattle Seahawks player might have just had the best season in NFL history

The Seattle Seahawks won their second Super Bowl in franchise history, and Kenneth Walker III was named MVP, but someone else had a a record setting game.

Update:

There is plenty of credit to go around after the Seattle Seahawks won their second Super Bowl in franchise history. Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III certainly deserves his piece of the pie, so too does Sam Darnold, and the Seahawks defense.

Myers for MVP?

One player has gone awfully under the radar, and not only did he have a case for the Super Bowl MVP, he set an NFL record for points in a season. For a long time the Seahawks were relying Jason Myers to put them ahead and keep them ahead of the New England Patriots.

It was a defensive showdown from Santa Clara for most of the game, and while the Seahawks were moving the ball, they couldn’t punch the ball into the end zone. That meant Myers had to step up and deliver in the biggest game of his life. He hit one field goal in the first quarter. Then he hit two in the second. One more FG in the third quarter put the Seahawks up 12-0 and at the same time tied a Super Bowl record for most made field goals.

An A.J. Barner touchdown catch from Sam Darnold early in the fourth quarter buried the Pats, and the defense would lock down and carry Seattle to the finish line. Before they reached the finish line Myers kicked another field goal to set a new Super Bowl record with his fifth made FG on Super Sunday. It was the perfect cap to what was a record setting season that no one seems to be talking about.

Myers perfect preseason

Myers didn´t just set a Super Bowl record on the 60th edition of the biggest game of the season. He also ended the season with the most points scored in NFL history, breaking LaDainian Tomlinson´s record of 198 points scored in his 2025 MVP season. Myers ended the season with 206 points.

Seattle´s kicker finished the regular season with 171 points after hitting 41/48 field goals and hitting all of his 48 PATs. Then the playoffs came and Myers not only broke LT´s record, but also had a perfect playoff run. He hit 8/8 field goals and hit all 11 PATs.

It was a record setting year, and a record setting Super Bowl, but Myers was always going to have a tough time being named Super Bowl MVP. No kicker in the history of the league has been named MVP, and that includes Adam Vinatieri who kicked two game winners in the Super Bowl to lead the New England Patriots to wins over the St. Louis Rams in 2002 and Carolina Panthers in 2004.
