NY Giants confirm death of Korey Cunningham, former NFL lineman

Cunningham spent a year with the Giants after spells with the Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots.

Korey Cunningham, former NFL offensive linesman, has been found dead at his home in New Jersey at the age of 28.

The new was announced by the NY Giants, Cunningham’s most recent team, on Friday morning. He spent a year in New York after spells with the Arizona Cardinals and the New England Patriots.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Korey Cunningham,” the Giants statement read. “He was a vital part of the spirit and camaraderie of the locker room. Our thoughts are with Korey’s family, friends and teammates.”

What was Korey Cunningham’s cause of death?

The statement from the Giants made no mention of a cause of death for the 28-year-old from Alabama.

ESPN reports that police forced their way into Cunningham’s residence and found him dead. A spokesperson for Clifton police said that they are still investigating his passing, but added that “foul play is not suspected at this time”.

Cunningham joined the NFL in 2018 and played 31 games across his professional career. He struggled with foot injuries throughout his career and was not able to return to the game after undergoing surgery while playing for the Giants in 2022.
