The Miami Dolphins have revealed they have waived wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who played only nine times and failed to start a single game for the franchise after joining in May.

The three-time Pro Bowl has struggled for fitness and form since suffering an ACL tear in Super Bowl LVI while playing for the Los Angeles Rams, who defeated the Cincinnati Bengals. Beckham Jr. missed the entirety of the 2022 season as a result and then spent a year with the Baltimore Ravens before signing for the Dolphins.

The 32-year-old started this season on the physically unable to perform list because of a knee injury and has done little to impress since being activated in week 5. In nine games, he made only nine catches for 55 yards, less than what was expected of him.

Odell Beckham’s Dolphins contract details

Beckham Jr. signed a one-year, $3 million deal with the Dolphins in May, all of which was guaranteed, and received a $1.8 million signing bonus. The wide receiver’s contract could have increased to $5.25 million had he hit certain incentives, which he fell well short of.

The Louisiana native has been placed on waivers until Monday, with the Dolphins hoping he picks up the remainder of his contact for the rest of the season, which amounts to $201,000. If not, that will be dead money to Miami and Beckham Jr. will become a free agent.
