You know you’re having a bad season when even the lowly Carolina Panthers are favored to beat you. The Panthers have won five games in the last two years, and have been favored to win exactly zero...until now.

Panthers favorites over Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys will travel to Charlotte this Sunday to face the 3-10 Panthers and for the first time in two years, Carolina is the favorite to win the game.

Here are the spreads and moneylines from various sports bettors:

Fanduel: Panthers -2.5 spread, -152 moneyline
DraftKings: Panthers -2.5 spread, -110 moneyline
ESPNBET: Panthers -2.5 spread, -120 moneyline
BetMGM: Panthers -2.5 spread, -110 moneyline
Caesar’s Sportsbook: Panthers -2.5 spread, -135 moneyline

The last time the Panthers were favored to win a game was December 18, 2022, when they were three-point favorites over the Pittsburgh Steelers. They ended up losing that game 24-16.

While the Panthers have been playing much better football recently, the Cowboys are coming off of a disappointing loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night, bringing their record to 5-8 this season. They won their previous two games against division rivals Washington Commanders and New York Giants to give some semblance of hope, but with Monday’s loss, the Cowboys are back to being the underdogs, even against the Panthers.

The Panthers on the other hand almost took out the Philadelphia Eagles, who just clinched a playoff berth with their ninth straight win and are on the verge of clinching the NFC East. The Panthers' 22-16 loss to Philly was their third-straight near upset of a playoff team, narrowly losing to the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well. Quarterback Bryce Young is playing much better football after being benched earlier in the season.

The losses are still too great, but the fight they’ve shown at the end of this season is at least gaining them some respect. That plus the Cowboys' disaster season is what’s made them favorites to win for the first time in two years.
