Update:

Seismograph needles may not have twitched, but there was a definite disturbance in the Force when the first drips of a potential Micah Parsons move to the Green Bay Packers was given the green light.

The heads of NFL fans around the world took a 3-degree-tilt backwards from their screens, jugulars bulging, eyelids parting, eyebrows called into action to keep everything in relative stability on the 3D surfaces that were experiencing instinctive reactions reserved for the most unexpected of occurrences.

I’d throw money at even Micah Parsons, the man sitting cross-legged in the eye of the storm, had an instinctive wobble of the head. Almost shaking away the idea, flitting it away like a fly, a persistent one, that indeed comes back to inspect you once again.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen”

After the immediate confusion, there is understanding, then solidification, excitement, and doubt. And it’s that doubt that comes with most big moves; even the Mario Thwomps — the spiky stone blocks that live inside Bowser’s castle — wobble before they do their business.

Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, was tasked with solving the equation of the move from Dallas. The player confided in him his doubt regarding length of the operation: “I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I need you to get something done soon,’” Parsons nervously pushed. “I haven’t not played football this long since I was in seventh grade.” He had no power over the move, no other choices: it was him and his agent.

Back tightness kept him out of Cowboys practices, so the story goes, with Parsons later admitting that “I did not want to be in a position where I was missing opportunities, not only to feed my family, but like I said, the brotherhood,” Parsons said. “Them guys wanted me on the field as bad as I wanted to be on the field. They look at me as [a] big brother, like, ‘He needs to be out there, I know we know we can win with him, I know what he can do out there.’ So yeah, I was worried about that, but now that’s resolved.”
