Patience runs out for Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Fields
The Miami Dolphins and New York Jets grew tired of their starting quarterbacks and decided to bench them in Week 7.

The quarterback position is the most important in the NFL, and teams are acutely aware of the need for the right player to achieve success. Tua Tagovailoa’s performance with the Miami Dolphins and Justin Fields’ performance with the New York Jets were so poor that both were replaced before the end of their respective games.
Tagovailoa threw three interceptions and completed only 12 of 23 passes against the Cleveland Browns. The Dolphins quarterback was replaced by rookie Quinn Ewers for the fourth quarter, with the game already lopsided at 31-6. One of Tagovailoa’s interceptions was even returned for a touchdown.
In addition, the Alabama graduate fumbled three times but was fortunate not to lose any of them. He recovered two fumbles himself, while Devon Achane helped him recover the first. Despite this, Miami’s issues weren’t solely Tagovailoa’s fault. The rookie Ewers was frequently pressured, being sacked twice in just eight minutes of play. Ewers finished the game completing 5 of 8 passes for 53 yards.

Will Fields be benched in New York?
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn decided to bench Justin Fields due to multiple factors that complicated his performance at MetLife Stadium against the Carolina Panthers. New York lost 13-6 at home, largely due to quarterback errors.
Fields left the game in the second quarter after taking a hard hit from Nick Scott. Tyrod Taylor took over the offense to finish that drive, and the Jets managed to pull ahead with a three-point lead.
However, Fields returned to finish the first half, only to leave again after taking two sacks despite having already advanced past midfield.

The quarterback change didn’t improve New York’s fortunes. Taylor and the Jets had a chance to secure the win, but two costly interceptions by the backup ended any hope. The first came late in the third quarter when he targeted Josh Reynolds on a deep route, only for Jaycee Horn to snatch the ball. Taylor tried the same connection again, and Horn recorded his second interception of the afternoon.
