Patrick Mahomes edges closer to Joe Montana: which quarterbacks have the most Super Bowl rings?
Patrick Mahomes won his third Super Bowl championship ring in Sunday’s 25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers. Where does he stand in the all-time ranking?
Patrick Mahomes continues to amplify his legacy. He still has a long way to go emulate Tom Brady’s record achievement, but at least he’s on the right path after picking up his third championship ring to stake his place among an elite list of select NFL quarterbacks.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is now just one championship ring away from equaling the likes of San Francisco 49ers legend Joe Montana (curiously the same team he beaten twice in the big game), and former Pittsburgh Steelers QB Terry Bradshaw.
With Sunday’s victory, Mahomes equaled another legend, Troy Aikman, ex-Dallas Cowboys quarterback who won three championship rings in 1992, 1993 and 1995 - a similar period to the Chiefs quarterback.

However, despite his achievement, Mahomes’ mission is far from over in the NFL. The 28-year-old hopes to catch up with Brady, who won six rings with the New England Patriots and another with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2002, 2004, 2005, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021).
And with the victory over the Niners, Mahomes sent a message to the entire NFL after the Chiefs prevailed despite going into the last three games of the playoffs as the underdogs, posting wins against the Dolphins, the Bills and the Ravens.

“To be able to go play three great teams to get to this game and play another great team and win all those games… it was a true road in the playoffs and we were able to come through and be Super Bowl champs,” Mahomes at the end of the game. “I’m just happy with the guys for continuing to believe in this team. And let people know that the Kansas City Chiefs are never going to be underdogs”.
As for the overall, all-time ranking for players with the most NFL championship rings, Brady also tops that list. Ahead of Charles Haley, who won five Super Bowl games as a linebacker and defensive end with the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys in 1989, 1990, 1993, 1994 and 1996. After Haley, there are 34 players who have four rings.
