MAHOMES
What is Patrick Mahomes’ new logo and what ‘first’ has it just achieved?
Mahomes has deep Texas roots and his football career took off at Texas Tech University, which now celebrates him in a unique way at Jones AT&T Stadium.
Before Patrick Mahomes became a three-time Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs, he was a breakout star quarterback for Texas Tech University. In fact, Mahomes has deep Texas roots. He grew up in Tyler, Texas and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan his whole life. When he came to Lubbock to play at Tech, he was supposed to just be the backup to Davis Webb, but when Webb got injured, Mahomes stepped up to start, and the rest is basically history.
He kept the starting position and played out the rest of his time there as the Red Raiders’ No. 1 quarterback and quickly became a legend. Then when he was selected 10th overall by the Chiefs and went on to become a three-time Super Bowl champion, he became even more of a legend at Texas Tech. Now, his legend lives on inside the Jones AT&T Stadium at Texas Tech in an extremely unique way.
Texas Tech reveals Patrick Mahomes logo on stadium field
Patrick Mahomes had already been inducted into the Ring of Honor at TTU, so his name was already inside the stadium. But now, it’s there in an even bigger way.
As part of a deal with Mahomes, Adidas, and Texas Tech, the university revealed the three logos on the field at Jones AT&T Stadium. Having this personalized stamp on the field has never been done before!
They will also be releasing co-branded apparel featuring Mahomes’ Gladiator logo. It’s not just Tech who appreciates Mahomes. The feeling is definitely reciprocated, as Mahomes gives the school credit for getting him where he is today.
“I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for Texas Tech and I’m proud to have helped bring Red Raider Nation into the three-stripe fam,” Mahomes said in a news release. “Today is just the beginning of an incredible partnership with Adidas, so stay tuned for more to come this fall that we’re excited to be working on together!”
