Patrick Mahomes has a bad feeling about Kansas City Chiefs' Christmas schedule

The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for a run of three games in 11 days as a busy festive season approaches for the reigning NFL champions.

The Chiefs are one of four teams with that challenging schedule, due to the addition of a Wednesday game on Christmas Day. Up until 2019 Christmas games were only scheduled when the 25th December fell on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday; the traditional NFL days.

By squeezing a Wednesday game into the schedule the NFL has upped the physical burden on a small group of teams. Speaking on Wednesday, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes admitted that he had concerns about the schedule.

It is not a good feeling,” Mahomes said. “I’m excited to play on Christmas to hopefully get back from what we did last year, but you never want to play this many games in this short of time. It’s just not great for your body. But at the end of the day, it’s your job, your profession. You have to come to work and do it.”

“That’s a unique situation,” Kansas City head coach Andy Reid added. “You just have to manage it. It is what it is. You make the best of it.”

The other teams with this schedule are the Houston Texans, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens. The Chiefs take on the Cleveland Browns this Sunday, then the Texans the following Saturday and face the Steelers on Christmas Days.

This year’s festive fixture schedule will be the first time that they’ve been available to stream on Netflix. This year’s action will also feature a special halftime performance from Houston-born Beyoncé at the Ravens-Texans game. There will be no additional payment required to view the games, anyone with a Netflix subscription will have access to both games.
