Pete Carroll’s contract situation: This how much money he made as the Raiders’ HC before getting fired

Update:

Pete Carroll has been fired. It’s unclear whether the 74-year-old coach will try to find anothe job in the NFL.

The NFL veteran had signed a three-year deal with the Raiders as the team looked to challenge for a Super Bowl for the first time in decades. Carroll brought immense NFL experience but things didn’t go as planned in Las Vegas.

The Sun reported that Carroll was getting $15 million per year to take charge of the underperforming team. The Raiders have not won a playoff game since the 2002 season, when they made it all the way to Super Bowl XXXVII. Since then, their only postseason appearances have been two Wild Card defeats.

Things have barely improved since the move to Las Vegas in 2020 and the 2024 and 2025 season’s 4-13 record were the Raiders’ worst since 2018, when they went 4-12.

It was a brave choice for Carroll, who spent a year away from coaching after leaving the Seahawks last year. His bet hasn’t paid off on the field for the Raiders, but Carroll will get at least his $15 million and some experts think he will probably get paid $30 million more to leave, the amount of the remaining two years on his contract..

There have been four previous head coaches since the move from Oakland five years ago: Jon Gruden, Rich Bisaccia, Josh McDaniels and Antonio Pierce.
