Playing two positions in the NFL isn’t easy, but Travis Hunter is surprising everybody
Jaguars first-round pick Travis Hunter is surprising his new side with his versatility.

Travis Hunter is one of the names on everyone’s ‘must watch’ list for the upcoming season in the NFL. The 22-year-old will be playing both as a wide receiver and a cornerback for the Jags this season, something that is set to fully test his ability at the elite level of American Football.
Before being picked by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Hunter made history at Colorado by becoming the only player ever to claim both the Chuck Bednarik Award (top defender) and the Fred Biletnikoff Award (top receiver), all while winning the Heisman Trophy in 2024.
Across two stellar seasons in Boulder, he racked up over 2,600 snaps, caught 153 passes for nearly 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns, as well as adding seven interceptions in defensive moments of brilliance.

‘It’s challenging to learn everything and he’s done a nice job’
“Travis has been great — just his work ethic, how he’s come in‚" quarterback Trevor Lawrence said, via Jamal St. Cyr of WJXT. “He’s been one of the hardest-working guys we have. I think it’s commitment to learning the playbook and trying to learn the two systems.
“It’s a lot on a rookie,” he admitted, adding that “it’s challenging to learn everything and he’s done a nice job. We still have work to do and we’re going to get a lot done in training camp and get us ready to play come September. I’m really excited for him and how he can help our team.”
The Jacksonville Jaguars had a rough 2024 campaign, finishing with a disappointing 4–13 record, landing them third place in the AFC South, well off playoff contention. The season concluded with the firing of head coach Doug Pederson on January 6, after three seasons and a career-to-date 22–29 record in Jacksonville.
