The Los Angeles Rams had a near perfect day on the offensive side of the ball as Matt Stafford threw for four TDs in the win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Update:

Show key events only

The Rams capped off the game with this TD pass to Parkinson and Stafford signed off on his fourth four TD game of the season. He's the league leader in passing yards per game, TD passes with 25 and just 2 INTs all year. Put this man in the MVP conversation now.

LA improve to 7-2 as the drop to 6-4 and fall behind the Rams and Seahawks in the NFC West.

Five plays after the Farrell TD catch it was Williams punching it in for his second TD of the day. That would put the Rams in the driver's seat and they would only add to the lead from there.

Jones and the NIners weren't done yet. Jones found Farrell with a TD pass to make it a one score game early in the 4th quarter, but their defense couldn't get a stop just as it seemed like the offense was starting to take off.

The Rams never panicked when the Niners were making their comeback bid. They let their future Hall of Fame QB march down the field and he found Davante Adams fo their 9th TD connection of the season. His 9 TDs are the most of any WR in the league.

The NIners came out of the break and Jones led his guys down the field and cut the LA lead to 7 and all of the sudden we had a game in the Bay.

The Niners finally got into the end zone late in the first half as Jones hit Kittle fo the TD to give the NIners some hope and something to believe in going into halftime.

Stafford has had a long and successful career as indicated by the 400th TD pass that he threw to Davis Allen, but he might be having his best year ever after almost two decades in the league.

It wasn't just the offense that was rolling in San Fran. The defense came up with a fumble and a turn over on downs to kill SF drives as the Niners started to creep closer to the end zone.

The Rams defense doubled their lead after holding SF to a three and out to start their day, it was Puka Nacua breaking tackles and barreling into the end zone. Nacua and 5 catches fo 64 yards and this TD as Stafford spread the love all day.

The Los Angeles Rams went into San Francisco and came out with a big divisional win to improve to 7-2 to on the year. Matt Stafford threw four touchdowns in the 42-26 win from the Bay.

The Rams went right down the field on the open drive of the day, and it was Kyren Williams getting into the end zone to put LA up early.

WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM SAN FRAN!!!

Previous matchup

The Rams had the Week 5 game won or at least in the bag in the 4th quarter. It was a game that SF went into without Brock Purdy, Nick Bosa and George Kittle, but somehow Mac Jones led his team to victory with his best game in a Niners jersey. He had 342 yards and 2 TDs as San Fran went up 14-0 in the first half, but LA would respond in the 2nd half. Matt Stafford heated up and throwing a couple TD passes to tie the game at 20-20 early in the 4th quarter. Eddie Piniero hit a 59 yard field goal with under 3:00 to go in the 4th quarter to put SF ahead, but Stafford and the Rams marched down the field and had LA at the 2 yard line but Kyren Williams fumbled at the goal line and SF took over with 1:07 to go. LA would force a 3 and out and get the ball back with 42 seconds on the clock which was enough time to set up a game tying field goal to send it into OT. SF would kick a field goal in OT after winning the toss, the Rams went for a 4th and 1 conversion on the SF 11 with 3:41 to go in OT, but the SF defense came up with another huge play stopping Williams on the run and capping the game off in OT.

Is the NFC West the best?

Is this NFC West the best division in the league? They are certainly in the conversation. Of the four teams in the division, three of them have six wins through nine week of the season. The AFC West as some great teams, but their records aren’t as strong. The NFC North have three five win teams and a 4-4 team, but no division has been as consistent as the NFC West with the Seahawks at the top with a 6-2 record, followed by the Rams who are also 6-2 and the Niners who are 6-3. San Fran has beaten both LA and Seattle already, but because they have three losses and have yet to go on their BYE like SEA and LA have, they sit third.

Rams defense

Jones isn’t going to have it easy today against a Rams defense that is hitting their stride. Since LA lost the OT game to the Niners 26-23, the defense has suffocated opposing offenses over the last three games. They held a Lamar Jackson-less Ravens team to 3 points in an ugly 17-3 win, then beat Jacksonville 35-7 before going on a BYE and then holding the Saints to 10 points in the 34-10 blowout. They are the second best defense in the league when it comes to points allowed per game giving up 15.9 points just 0.8 behind the league leading Texans defense.

Purdy or Jones? 49ers coach confirms quarterback decision for Week 10

Purdy’s progression

The Niners are doing alright without their franchise QB that they paid big bucks to over the offseason. Brock Purdy has been out for most of the year with a turf toe injury that he suffered in Week 1, and Mac Jones has filled in nicely for Kyle Shanahan and the offense. Purdy is close to a return, but not quite there so that means that Jones will be under center again today. In the 7 games he has played, he’s thrown for 1,832 yards, 10 TDs and 5 INTs. He’s already beat the Rams once this year, and he’ll have to do it again tonight in front of Niners nation.

Niners star watch

It’s safe to say Christian McCaffrey is officially back. After missing most of last season with injury, the dual threat running back has returned maybe better than ever. He is on pace to rush for 1,000 yards and well on pace to get 1,000 yards receiving. If he manages to do so, he’d be the first player ever to reach that feat twice. He’s already done it once, back in 2019 when he joined Roger Craig and Marshall Faulk in the 1,000/1,000 club. McCaffery has 596 yards rushing and 626 yards receiving with 8 total TDs. It’s no secret that he is the key to success for San Fran, the question is can the Rams stop him?

Rams star watch

I don’t want to jinx him, but Matthew Stafford might be in the midst of a historic season, at least personally. He is on pace for a career year a 37 years old. In a season he lost one of his favorite targets in Cooper Kupp he has strengthened his chemistry with Puka Nacua and clicked quickly with Davante Adams. He’s got 2,147 yards, which puts him at the top of the charts in yards per game with 268.4 yards an outing, and his 21 TDs are the most in the NFL and his 2 INTs are tied for the least amount with Baker Mayfield. His career high season was back in 2021 when he passed for 4,886 yards, 41 TDs and 17 INTs. That was the same year the Rams won the Super Bowl. Stafford is on pace to catch his personal TD record and wouldn’t mind another Super Bowl run along the way.

Niners last game

The Niners went to New York to take on the Giants on the heels of their ugly loss in Houston and they went back to basics in the Big Apple. They fed Christian McCaffrey the ball all day long. He had 33 total touches with 173 total yards and two TDs, one rushing and another through the air. Mac Jones had an efficient day going 19/24, and the Niners kept the Giants at an arm distance for the final 30 minutes and got back into the win column setting up for this massive match up today from Levi’s stadium.

Rams last game

The Rams were coming off their BYE week and hosted the New Orleans Saints from Sofi Stadium last Sunday. It might as well have been another BYE week as they cruised past the putrid Saints in a 34-10 blowout. Matt Stafford tossed three of this four TD passes in the first half, and the Rams led 20-10 at the halftime break. The defense would lock down after the halftime break, shutting down the Saints offense as Devante Adams caught his second TD pass of the game and Kyren Williaims completed the demolition of New Orleans with a TD run early in the 4th quarter.

We are live from the Bay

Hello everyone and welcome to San Francisco where the Niners are back on the west coast a trip to New York that got them back into the win column. For the last seven weeks the Niners have been exchanging wins and losses but if they want to keep pace with the Rams and the Seahawks they are going to have to take care of business on their home turf against an LA team that hasn’t lost since the first match up between these two teams back in early October. We are midway through the season, but this game has a must win feel to it with plenty of playoff implications riding on this Week 10 divisional showdown.
