Ravens make Kyle Hamilton the highest-paid safety in NFL history
The Baltimore defensive back will have an average annual salary of $25 million until he becomes a free agent at the end of the 2030 season.

The Baltimore Ravens have long been known for building elite, hard-hitting defenses—and now they’re doubling down on that legacy by locking in one of their brightest stars. Safety Kyle Hamilton has signed a record-breaking four-year, $100.4 million contract extension, making him the highest-paid safety in NFL history.

The deal, confirmed this afternoon by ESPN and NFL Network, includes a staggering $82 million in guaranteed money, shattering the previous benchmark of $45 million set by Antoine Winfield Jr.. With an average annual salary of $25.1 million, Hamilton leapfrogs Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph, who signed an $86 million deal earlier this year worth $21.5 million per season.
Locked in through 2030
Hamilton was already under contract through 2026 thanks to the Ravens exercising the fifth-year option on his rookie deal, which will pay him $18.6 million in 2026. This new extension keeps him in Baltimore through the end of the 2030 season, securing the future of one of the league’s most versatile defenders

Kyle Hamilton’s stats with the Ravens
Drafted 14th overall out of Notre Dame in 2022, Hamilton didn’t start immediately but quickly proved his worth. After starting just four games as a rookie, he’s started 32 consecutive games over the past two seasons, racking up: 188 total tackles, 5 interceptions, 5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, First-Team All-Pro honors in 2023, Second-Team All-Pro in 2024.

His ability to blitz, cover, and disrupt plays has made him a nightmare for offensive coordinators and a cornerstone of Baltimore’s defensive identity.
Hamilton’s deal doesn’t just reward performance—it resets the market. With guaranteed money nearly double that of previous record-holders and a salary that redefines expectations for the safety position, the Ravens are sending a clear message: elite defensive playmakers are worth every penny.
