Ravens owner’s expletive reaction to Tomlin resignation
The owner of the Baltimore side was shocked to hear of Tomlin’s decision.

The news of Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin resigning after 19 seasons hit the NFL like a tidal wave. Almost two decades at the helm came to an abrupt end when it was announced that he would stepping away from the position on Tuesday; hired in 2007, he never posted a losing season and guided Pittsburgh to a Super Bowl victory, eight division titles and 13 playoff appearances.
As the waves ripples spread across the NFL, comments and questions came flooding in. In the melee of media scramble, an unexpected reaction from a familiar AFC North figure stole the spotlight. Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti, in the midst of his own press briefing, learned of Tomlin’s departure in real time.
Bisciotti was addressing reporters about the Ravens’ own coaching change when an aide informed him of Tomlin’s announcement. His first words were delivered with genuine surprise: “he did? Is that official?”

Tomlin to Ravens would be “awesome,” says Bisciotti
The timing could not have been more dramatic. Just days earlier, Bisciotti had dismissed longtime Ravens head coach John Harbaugh following Baltimore’s season-ending loss to the Steelers, a defeat that gave Pittsburgh the AFC North crown and kept Baltimore out of the playoffs.
Asked jokingly whether Tomlin might now be under consideration for the Ravens’ vacancy, Bisciotti leaned into the moment with a grin. “Holy s***, wouldn’t that be awesome?” he quipped, before adding, “only if John took the Pittsburgh job!”
“Wow, wouldn’t that be interesting? I don’t know, that thing last week, maybe disqualified him from my opening after our kicker missed a kick to let them advance. Good for Mike. Yeah, I dunno. Talk to him.”
Bisciotti went on to praise Tomlin, acknowledging nearly two decades of rivalry and respect. “I love Mike,” he admitted. “I’ve admired Mike for 18 years. That’s really shocking that he did it that way. But, yeah, that’s kind of crazy.”

Despite the humorous comments, there is no indication that Tomlin is considering Baltimore or that an inter-division switch is in the cards. Team rights and NFL protocol would make such a move complicated, especially with Tomlin under contract through 2027.
