Ravens 20 vs 37 Chiefs summary: Lamar Jackson injured stats, scores and highlights | NFL Week 4
The Kansas City Chiefs won their second straight game with their blowout over the Baltimore Ravens who saw their QB Lamar Jackson go down with an injury.
Mahomes had a monster game. It's been a while since we have seen him let it rip like he did without having to carry the team on his back. On Sunday at Arrowhead he looked like the MVP that we saw from a few years ago. And it's only going to get better when they get Rashee Rice back from suspension. The Chiefs will be just fine now that they are back to 2-2 and getting better by the week. The same may not be said for the Ravens who are now 1-3 and have an injury to their franchise player that they will have to cross their fingers isn't serious.

As if the loss on the road to the Chiefs to drop to 1-3 on the season isn't bad enough, the Ravens saw Lamar Jackson sidelined with an apparent hamstring injury. He didn't come back and now we wait for a diagnosis which will be coming in the next few days.

Out of the break, the Chiefs went right back to work and built up another scoring drive. Mahomes hit his favorite target over the first three weeks of the season, Tyquan Thornton, who extended the lead to 27-10 early in the second half.

With a short field and the offense rolling Mahomes connected with Isaiah Pacheco for his second TD pass of the day and the Chiefs were rolling into the halftime.
Cargando...
The Chiefs had Jackson under pressure all afternoon, sending a barrage of blitzes that forced a couple of turnovers. This gave the Chiefs the ball back with great field position right before the half, and Mahomes punished Baltimore after the giveaway.
Cargando...
With Worthy on the field Mahomes didn't just have his most explosive WR on the field, he had more options all over the field with the defense focusing on Worthy. JuJu Smith-Schuster took advantage with this 4 yard TD catch, and the Chiefs were just getting warmed up.
Cargando...
Xavier Worthy came back after getting injured on the first series of the season, and boy what a difference he made. He did a little bit of everything and the Chiefs offense looked like the Chiefs offense of old. It's been a while since we have seen KC score and move the ball like they did on Sunday against the Ravens.
Cargando...
The Ravens were driving again, and had a chance to build on their lead but Low Chenal came up with a massive play to pick off Jackson who threw his first pick of the season. He went 14/20 for 14 yards but now all eyes and ears in Baltimore will be waiting for news on the severity of his hamstring injury .

The Ravens came out swinging with an opening drive TD, but that was about all the Ravens offense brought to the table in KC. They would go quiet after that and to make matters worse Lamar Jackson was injured his hamstring in the second half and sat out the rest of the way.

Last matchup
It was the opening game of the 2024 season and it went down to the wire. The Chiefs hosted the Ravens and both teams went back and forth all night long. The Chiefs took a 7 point lead early in the 4th quarter with a Xavier Worthy TD catch, but the Ravens came roaring back on the final drive of the game. Jackson hit Likely in the back of the end zone but the TD was out of bounds by the length of a toenail and the Chiefs survived the Week 1 thriller.

Brutal starts to the season
Ok, these two teams are 1-2 and the loser of today’s game is going to go to 1-3. But when you look at the way these two teams started the season, you see that it may not be time to panic just yet. The Ravens played the Bills and lost by a point in Week 1, and lost to the Lions by one possession last week. The Chiefs played the Chargers who look like one of the top teams in the league and then the Eagles. They lost to the Chargers by 6 and the Eagles by 3. It’s true that they were winning those tight games last year, but with a injury plagued offense the fact that they have been in those games says something about what Mahomes and the defense has been able to do.

1-3 teams playoff chances
While it does seem like a desperate situation for both teams, it’s not exactly impossible for a 1-3 team to make it to the playoffs. Since the new playoff format was introduced in 2020, there have been five teams that started 1-3 and made the postseason. While those aren’t great numbers, it certainly doesn’t put the playoffs out of the question. Having said that, neither team will want to have to climb out of a 1-3 hole after Week 4.

Hang on Henry
The King has been one of the best running backs in the NFL for the last decade. He was just 79 yards away from his second 2,000 yard season last year and was nearly unstoppable in his first season as a Raven. This year, that hasn’t quite been the case. He had a huge game against the Bills, but had 23 yards on 11 attempts against Cleveland and 50 yards on 12 rushes last week against Detroit. What’s even more problematic that the dip in numbers over the last couple weeks has been his fumbles. He’s the only running back in the league that has fumbled in each of the first three games. Two of those fumbles including last week’s came at critical moments of the game and ended up costing his team a win. He has been and still is the hardest back to bring down in the NFL, but defenders might have figured out a way to neutralize The King.

The X man returns
The Chiefs are getting a big boost today as Patrick Mahomes arsenal of weapons gets more explosive with the addition of Xavier Worthy. Worthy got injured on the Chiefs first offensive series of the season. He collided with Travis Kelce and suffered a shoulder injury that kept him since then. He is off the injury report, and is ready to play which should open up the offense for Patrick Mahomes. Last year Worthy laugh 59 balls for 638 yards and 6 TDs in his rookie season, and now he going to be one of the top targets in just his second year.

Star watch: Ravens
Say what you want about the Ravens slow start, but Lamar Jackson has been extraordinary. He’s got the most passing TDs in the league with 9, and he’s completing 72% of his passes. He’s also got a rushing TD, but is only tucking it when he has no other options. For as good of a runner as he is, the Chiefs can’t forget about what he is capable of in the air. He’s got the best passer rating in the NFL at 141.8, which is 20 more than Jared Goff in second place. Today’s match up is more than just QB vs. QB, but whenever Mahomes and Jackson are on the same field, all eyes are on the two gun slingers.

Star watch: Chiefs
Who else would we put on the star watch other than Patrick Mahomes? After three weeks, no one, because it’s basically been all on his shoulders. The run game is being contained because defenses know his top two targets have been sidelined since the start of the season. The two time MVP hasn’t had Xavier Worthy or Rashee Rice, and has had to make do with some of his back up receivers. He’s still putting up decent numbers, because after all he is Patrick Mahomes, but he’s being forced to run a little more because of the limited options in the passing game. He’s averaging 223 yards a game, and has 3 TDs with 1 INT coming into today’s game, but he knows to beat Baltimore he will have to be the best he’s been all season, and hope that his teammates can step up in this huge early season matchup.

Ravens last week
The Ravens had a primetime matchup with the Detroit Lions and the Lions went into Baltimore and beat the Ravens at they own game. Both teams scored on their opening possessions, but then the Lions run game kicked into gear. David Montgomery had a monster game and it started on the Lions 18 play, 98 yard drive that started at the 2. That would be the first of two 95+ yards drives that the Lions built up but the Ravens were right there the whole time despite allowing 224 yards rushing to the Lions. They were within four points midway through the 4th quarter, but Derrick Henry fumbled giving the ball back to Detroit, and that was the moment the Lions took control of the game. They hit a field goal after the turnover and then Montgomery capped the game off with a 31 yard TD run and end his night with 151 yards and two TDs.

Chiefs last week
The Chiefs finally got in the win column last week but it wasn’t pretty. They went to New York to take on the Giants on Sunday Night Football, but again the KC offense struggled. They had to settle for three first half field goals an went into the break up 9-6. Mahomes finally got the Chiefs into the end zone coming out of the break. He hooked up with Tyquan Thornton on a 5 yard TD pass to take a 10 point lead on the Giants. That would be enough of a cushion for the defense who locked down the New York offense that could only muster a field goal the rest of the way. Kareem Hunt added an insurance TD with six minutes left and the Chiefs finally got their first win three weeks into the season.

Hello everyone and welcome to Kansas City where the Chiefs are back home and looking to carry some of the momentum they built up last week into today’s game against the Ravens. They got their first win of the season in New York last Sunday night after losing their opening two games of the year, and now they set their sight on the Ravens who are in the same situation as them heading into Week 4. Both of these team are expecting to be contenders in the AFC but today their focus will just be on winning today’s game and getting back to .500.
