NFL fans are not happy. Bills fans are livid. If you were hoping to wake up this morning and think it was just a bad dream, I’ve got bad news for you.
Reactions to the officiating in the Bills vs Broncos game: NFL fans and football analysts can’t believe what happened
Yes, the Bills turned over the ball five times (Josh Allen gave the ball away on four occasions), but that’s why football fans are so disappointed in several of the decisions the officiating crew made in the Divisional playoff game against the Broncos. It could have been a great story. It could have been an amazing comeback, but the zebras had other plans.
Reactions on social media
Several NFL analysts, sports journalists and even some celebrities chimed in on what they thought was a poorly officiated game. It wasn’t only the Brandin Cooks catch and subsequent robbery, it was the dodgy pass interference calls that went the way of the Broncos all night. At the end of the game Bo Nicks was just throwing rainbows knowing that he’d get the PI call in his favor.
Barstool president Dave Portnoy was not happy with the call on the Brandin Cooks catch and “interception.”
Former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky didn’t mince words either, “The officiating in OT has been absolutely atrocious,” he said on X.
Greg Vorse pointed out that the atrocious call on the Brandin Cooks play managed to bring thousands if not millions of people together. It’s nice to see some harmony on X, considering the current state of things.
Of course, Bills HC Sean McDermott had a lot to say after the game: “The fans deserve more. The players certainly deserve more,” he said. “They deserve an explanation, and it’s a shame that a game is decided on a call like that…”
NHL podcaster Paul Bissonnette was not impressed by the NFL officiating crew’s decisions in the Bills - Broncos game either:
And ESPN senior writer Don Van Natta Jr. probably summed it up best: “This was a catch by Cooks. The Bills were fleeced.”
