Rodgers bests Brady

In the battle between two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, no one expected it to be a low-scoring, uneventful offensive game.

This may very well have been the last time we see these two quarterbacks face each other in the NFL and a lot of hype was built up around it. The Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers headlined Sunday afternoon’s games, but the showdown between Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady wasn’t the offensive game we thought it would be.

The Bucs lost 14-12 against the Packers. Brady and Rodgers are the two biggest names in the NFL. Rodgers, with his back-to-back MVP titles. Brady, with his seven Super bowl wins. The Packers didn’t score a touchdown until there were just nine minutes left in the first half. And the Buccaneers didn’t score a single touchdown until 18 seconds were left.

This may just finally be the end of the Brady era. Perhaps he should have stayed retired, after all. He is now averaging 6.5 yards per attempted pass as compared to last year’s 7.4.

“We talk about ball security. We’ve got to keep doing a good job in the pass game with ball security,” said Brady. “That means protection, that means me making good reads and good throws and securing the ball when they catch it.

The Packers, on the other hand, are in much better shape than the Bucs to start out the season. They are loaded at both offense and defense.

“It’s just week three,” said Rodgers. “But, big win for us.”
