The Broncos have a new quarterback and it seems he’s intent on leading them to glory when the new NFL season gets underway.

Russell Wilson has come to the Denver Broncos to win

Having spent the last nine years with the Seattle Seahawks, it will take a while before the sight of Russell Wilson in his blue-and-orange No. 3 jersey becomes normal. Yet to hear Wilson tell it, this has been something he’s been looking forward to. “It’s a blessing to wear this jersey,” Wilson said Monday during a press conference which followed his very first training session at the Broncos’ facility. It was actually the Broncos’ first day of a three day voluntary mini-camp.

Wilson doubled down on his desire to see success in a Broncos jersey saying, “I want to be here obviously, to live here, and hopefully I can get to finish my career here and all that stuff, too,” Wilson said. “I’m just taking it one day at a time.” Denver’s new quarterback fittingly ended his presser by using their catch line, “Let’s ride!”

What did the Denver Broncos get with Russell Wilson?

Across his time in Seattle, the former Super Bowl winner amassed some 158 starts ending with a record of 104-53-1. Interestingly, when compared with other quarterbacks, only Peyton Manning accumulated more wins in the first 10 seasons of his Hall of Fame career with 105. Conversely it was last season that was the blemish on his impressive CV as it turned out to be the first that he finished with a losing record. Where the Broncos are concerned, it must be said that since Manning’s retirement back in 2016, Denver has seen 10 different starting quarterbacks and stumbled to a record of 39-58. With that said, it would seem things might just be about to change.

“At the end of the day, this is a winning organization,” Wilson said. “That’s one of the reasons why it made sense for me if I was going to go somewhere I had to go somewhere that wanted to win, and this is one of those places that definitely wants to do that.” Wilson actually went on to state that it was that idea which acted as the sole reason for coming to Denver. “I came here to win. I came here to win,” he said. “That’s our mindset, so whatever it takes to do that, we’re going to do.”

Russell Wilson looks forward future with Broncos

Having found themselves an apparent franchise quarterback, it would seem that the Broncos could well be one to watch this coming season, even more so when considering the idea that said QB really wants to be there. “What I would say to any young player coming in is take advantage of your opportunity,” Wilson said. “I always say dreams come true when you capitalize on opportunities, so take advantage of it. So I was fortunate to be able to take advantage of mine. I’ve still got more to do. I’ve still got some more opportunities to take advantage of.”
