Update:

After a whirlwind week for Shilo Sanders, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reportedly set to waive the safety as they look to trim down their squad ahead of the upcoming season. Rosters must be reduced to 53 players by Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.

Sanders recently made headlines across the world after a bust-up with Bills tight end Zach Davidson during a play in the second quarter of their game, during which he threw a punch right in front of the officials. It seems that this moment of red mist from Sanders has made the Bucs’ decision a lot easier in terms of who to cut from their roster.

You can’t throw punches in this league. It’s inexcusable. They’re gonna get you every time,” Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles fumed after the game. “You gotta grow from that.”

We’re told that the Buccaneers enjoyed having Shilo in the building, viewing the son of Deion Sanders as a good kid, who was at all times respectful to everyone. Shilo was also immediately remorseful following the incident that disqualified him from the second quarter of the game against the Bills,” Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio said.

“Sanders could, in theory, sign with the Bucs’ practice squad, after clearing waivers,” Florio added. “The bigger question is whether he’s good enough to compete and to play at the NFL level.”

Where could Shilo Sanders go next?

While nothing is confirmed at the time of writing, the rumour mill is indeed swirling at a ferocious rate regarding the brother of Shedeur. As things stand, it seems that the New Orleans Saints are in pole position to acquire the 25-year-old, with the Pittsburgh Steelers second in the betting market.

The Steelers are, on paper, in need of a young safety, with both DeShon Elliott (28) and Juan Thornhill (29) veterans of the game, bringing in the younger Sanders could provide healthy competition for a spot in the side. However, the question remains as to whether or not Sanders’ recent behavioural issues will cause any team to pass on a potential deal.
