Aaron Rodgers starts as Steelers captain
Players voted in Rodgers – who only joined the team this past June – along with linebacker TJ Watt, defensive tackle Cameron Heyward and safety Miles Killebrew.
The four-time MVP is seeking a resurgence in what will be his final NFL campaign, after a difficult stint with the New York Jets, where he finished with a 5-12 record despite completing 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Rodgers signed a one-year deal worth $13.65 million, including $10 million guaranteed, with a maximum value of $19.5 million. The contract also features $5.85 million tied to playing time and team performance incentives.
This marks the 11th consecutive season Heyward has been named captain. Watt has now been chosen as a defensive captain five times, while Killebrew has held the honor on special teams every year since 2022.
