Steelers sign GM Omar Khan to a contract extension
It’s been an eventful offseason for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the man behind all of these deals is going to be sticking around for the long haul.

It seems like the only team in the NFL that is making any news are the Pittsburgh Steelers. There are just a few weeks until training camps kick off around the league, but the Steelers are using this down time to make moves, both on the field and off the field.
In Omar we trust
It’s been an offseason full of wheeling and dealing in Pittsburgh after a late season collapse that saw them go crashing out of the playoffs in the opening round. Aaron Rodgers has been brought in, DK Metcalf was the first to join the Steelers, and the most recent move was the trade with Miami that brought Jonny Smith and Jalen Ramsey to town.
The one pulling the strings behind the curtain is general manager Omar Kahn who just agreed to a contract extension through 2028. The amount of the extension has not yet been disclosed, but the Steelers, and president Art Rooney II said they have all the confidence in Kahn as he carries them into this new chapter.

“Omar and his team have done a great job over the past three years in constructing our roster through the NFL Draft, strategic trades, and free agency. We look forward to continuing that trend that will lead to even more success on the field,” Steelers president Art Rooney II said in a statement Thursday.
All in year upcoming in Pittsburgh
Kahn was named GM of the Steelers after Kevin Colbert stepped down after more than a decade in Pittsburgh. In three years with the Steelers, the 48 year old has built competitive teams that have gone to the playoffs in back to back years. The Steelers are 29-22 in his three years, but the challenge this year isn’t going to be just winning a playoff game, it’s going to be winning it all.
“I would like to thank Art Rooney II for his support,” Khan said in a statement. “I believe we are building a championship roster and look forward to the 2025 season and beyond as our goals continue to be to bring another Super Bowl to the City of Pittsburgh and our great fans.”
The #Steelers have no intention of trading star pass rusher T.J. Watt and their focus remains on extending Watt’s contract, per sources.

While this year is an “all-in” year, the Steelers do have hope for the future. They have 12 picks in next year’s draft. Coach Mike Tomlin still has three years on his contract, but the first order of business before the season starts is coming to an agreement with T.J. Watt who is currently looking for a contract extension.
