Shoot out in Philly
Philly and Kansas City met in Week 4 of last season, and both were coming into the game needing a win after losing two of their first three of the season. Jalen Hurts had just earned the full time starting quarterback job in Philly, and there were still a lot of questions surrounding the former Alabama gunslinger. He would go on to set a career high for passing yards in his head-to-head matchup with Patrick Mahomes, but it wasn’t enough.
While the Eagles signal caller may have edged Mahomes in the yardage category, the former Super Bowl champ and NFL MVP threw five touchdowns to lead his team to victory and bring them to .500 though the first month of the season.
The Chiefs scored touchdowns on each of their three first half drives thanks to Mahomes’ ability to improvise on the go. He had three TD passes to three different receivers in the opening 30 minutes, one underhand, one normal and one on a pitch pass and the Chiefs lead 21-13.

The difference between the teams came in the red zone. Kansas City scored touchdowns on each of the five times they got inside the Philly 20, while the Eagles converted on just three of their six trips to the red zone. The Eagles had three TDs taken off the board do to offensive penalties, which forced them into settling for field goals instead of touchdowns.
Both teams made playoffs
The only time the Chiefs failed to get into the end zone was in the opening drive of the third quarter with KC up 21-13. Mahomes was picked off by Eric Wilson, and gave the Eagles a chance to tie the game out of the gate in the second half, but Philly had to kick a field goal after getting to the KC 3 yard line.
Mahomes would lead three straight touchdown drives to end the game, finishing the day with five TDs, three of those to Tyreek Hill, one to to Clyde Edwards-Helaire and another to Jody Fortson to stretch the lead to 19 in the fourth quarter.
The Chiefs went on to the AFC Championship only to lose to the Bengals at Arrowhead, and the Eagles snuck into the playoffs at 9-8, but ended up losing in the Wild Card Round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
