SUPER BOWL LVIII

Super Bowl Sunday injury update

As both teams plus all the fans get ready for Super Bowl LVIII, we take a look at the last minute injury updates coming into Sunday morning.

Update:
While the team is still loaded with weapons, the Chiefs will have to play the Super Bowl without a major offensive threat. Joe Thuney is officially out.

The Super Bowl LVIII injury report for both the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs is not exactly rosy, but it is fairly pleasant reading.

Kansas City knew that their defensive line would be without Charles Omenihu after suffering a torn ACL in the AFC championship game. Now, their line thins out on the offensive side of the ball as well with the announcement that Joe Thuney has a pectoral injury and will not play in the Super Bowl. They will use Nick Allegretti to fill the gap, but together with Prince Tega Wanogho’s quad injury, it is going to weaken that front without doubt.

The good news for Kansas City is that Rashee Rice is looking like he has returned well from his ankle treatment, but Jerick McKinnon is still questionable with a groin strain. The decision on whether or not he will play is going to be made at game time.

San Francisco are looking fairly healthy as well, with both George Kittle and Arik Armstead looking like they are back in that lineup.

Their defensive line is still without Kalia Davis, who has an ankle injury, but overall, they are running at near full strength.
