Texans injury boost compounds Cowboys crisis
The Texans have a key figure back in contention as they go up against the weary Cowboys.
A lenticular is a piece of art that changes depending on the angle the viewer approaches from. Think of the classic haunted house photo above the fireplace, the one that has the spooky eyes following you from left to right. That one. That’s Nico Collins returning from injury.
Look from the left and we see a huge boost to the Texans who are flying high at the top of the AFC South with a 6-4 record coming into their Week 11 game of the 2024 NFL season (Monday November 18, 8:15 p.m. / 5:15 p.m. PT.).
Will Nico Collins play for Texans against Cowboys in Week 11 MNF?
Take a few steps to the right, maintaining focus on Collins' colourful Texas-themed artwork, and we have the lowly Dallas Cowboys, 3rd in the NFC East, and spinning faster and faster around the plughole with nothing to grab onto.
Collins' return to the Texans squad was confirmed in the run-up to the Texas derby, with a four-week absence the result of a hamstring issue that plagued him for a total of five games.
Now, the smiles are back, and in good time, as Collins had caught 32 passes for 567 yards and three scores in his first five of the season. He was also averaging over 100 receiving yards per game while clearing 71.5 receiving yards in every game.

‘I have to take advantage of my opportunities’
On getting stuck into the action, Collins told reporters that “[I] got to go out there and take advantage of my opportunities. In order to pick back up, I got to ball out when the ball touches my hands. When the ball is in the air, I have to do something with it.”
“Getting Nico back is always very great for all of us,” coach DeMeco Ryans said. “Nico’s been one of our best players when he was healthy, so it’s great to have him back, great to have his presence and the energy that he brings and also the playmaking ability that he brings.”
