The Houston Texans had a productive week 15, securing their spot in the 2024 NFL playoffs by clinching a second successive AFC South title with a win over the Miami Dolphins. Week 16, however, didn’t go quite as smoothly as wide receiver Tank Dell suffered a serious injury against the Kansas City Chiefs.

What happened to Tank Dell against the Chiefs?

Early in the third quarter at Arrowhead Stadium, the 25-year-old appeared to suffer a bad knee injury after making a superb 30-yard touchdown catch to move the Texans to within a point of the Chiefs. Dell immediately pointed to his left knee after a collision with teammate Jared Wayne, who was also trying to make the same catch.

As the wide receiver was carted off, other Houston players looked emotional, with quarterback C.J. Stroud particularly affected.

Dell started eight games in his debut 2023 season for the Texans, which was cut short by a fractured fibula in week 13. At the time, his receiving stats placed him among the league’s rookie leaders.

It now appears as if he could be set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines, although it is too early to know the full extent of the damage.
