Two of the most rivalry-fueled fan bases in the Hispanic community are set to clash in week 5 of the NFL. The San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys will go head-to-head on October 9th at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

This game is considered a classic of the world’s most important league, particularly for many Mexican Americans. This is partly due to the fact that 40 years ago, the Cowboys were the only team broadcasted on Mexican TV, which is why they gained many followers among their southern neighbors.

In contrast, San Francisco had one of the greatest legends in NFL history, Joe Montana. These factors further intensified the competitive rivalry that started at the beginning of the previous era, making it one of the most fascinating chapters in the history of this sport.

The vibrant 70s

During the 1970s, there were several direct encounters between the Cowboys and the 49ers. The rivalry started in 1970 when the Cowboys consecutively beat the 49ers in the postseason for three years. During the first two years, the Cowboys won the conference title game, while in the third year, they eliminated the 49ers from the divisional round. Moreover, three games were held between the two teams during the regular season from 1974 to 1979, during which the Texans maintained their dominance over the 49ers.

Thus, the rivalry between the two franchises began to take shape and become a tradition. It became one of the most entertaining and media-friendly rivalries that lasted at the highest level for the next 20 years.

Present time high voltage match

Both teams are currently experiencing a good run in sports, making them strong contenders in crucial matches and intensifying their rivalry. Over the past few seasons, both teams have been among the top franchises to reach the Super Bowl, thanks to their outstanding performances throughout the year.
