The NFL season is starting to shape up, and training camp is just a taste of what this year can bring. Many questions can be answered in the training camps, and many surprises can occur while getting ready for the 2023-2024 year of football. This is what makes this summer so fun and interesting.

While the NBA summer league is like a rookie party with benchwarmers, the NFL training camp is more like a full-blown circus where everyone’s talents are on display. Calling all players, from rookies to seasoned pros.

And not showing up for camp can result in fines for the players. Rookies have an option to appeal those fines, while veterans can’t. This is due to missing camp usually being used as a tool to negotiate better contracts.

But what are the rules of NFL training camp?

Days 1 to 3 of the training program are designated as no-contact days. This means that participants are not allowed to engage in physical contact during this period. Following these three days, participants will be permitted to use helmets and light practice gear for the next two days. Teams must take a mandatory day off on the sixth day, after which they can resume fully padded practice.

Teams can now treat practice as a game week starting from that point. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that hosting joint practices can be beneficial as it creates a more realistic in-season environment.
