This is Levi’s Stadium, the venue for Super Bowl LX: capacity, cost, when it was built

Next month, Levi’s Stadium will host the Super Bowl for the second time, as the Seattle Seahawks go up against the New England Patriots for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Seattle and New England meet again in the Super Bowl

The Seahawks and the Patriots booked their tickets to Super Bowl LX this weekend, winning their conference titles with victories over the Los Angeles Rams and the Denver Broncos, respectively, on Championship Sunday.

No. 1 seed Seattle claimed the NFC championship with a 31-27 win over the Rams, quarterback Sam Darnold throwing for three touchdowns as the Seahawks reached the Super Bowl for the first time since the 2014 season.

And Mike Macdonald’s men will face the same opposition as at Super Bowl XLIX, after the Patriots ended a seven-year absence from the NFL’s championship game.

Andy Borregales’ third-quarter field goal proved the difference in the AFC title decider, as the second-seeded New England triumphed 10-7 in Colorado.

What to know about the Super Bowl 2026 location

Inaugurated in July 2014, Levi’s Stadium is the home of NFL franchise the San Francisco 49ers - a team eliminated by Seattle in this season’s Divisional Round.

Located in Santa Clara, California, the $1.2 billion venue was designed by the Kansas City, Missouri-based architects HNTB, who describe the arena as “the NFL’s fastest-constructed stadium”. It broke ground just two years and two months before its opening event: a Major League Soccer clash between the San Jose Earthquakes and the Seattle Sounders.

Levi’s Stadium’s typical seating capacity is 68,500, including 9,000 premium seats and 174 suites. For major sports events such as the Super Bowl, however, the venue can be expanded to accommodate over 70,000.

In February 2016, for example, around 71,100 spectators were inside Levi’s Stadium for the arena’s only previous Super Bowl, as the Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers 24-10 in the title game’s 50th edition.

While Levi’s Stadium is principally the home of the 49ers - HNTB designed the arena in collaboration with the NFL team, in a bid to “express the franchise’s distinctive character” - it also hosts one Earthquakes game every MLS season.

What’s more, the stadium’s soccer commitments include this year’s FIFA men’s World Cup. It is to stage six games at this summer’s tournament, including a last-32 matchup that could feature the U.S.

What’s Levi’s Stadium’s biggest ever attendance?

Other sports that have graced Levi’s Stadium include wrestling; indeed, WWE’s WrestleMania 31, staged in Santa Clara in March 2015, holds the venue’s attendance record of 76,976, according to the stadium’s website.

In the world of music, numerous major stars have performed at the arena. Notably, Levi’s Stadium was the setting for two concerts in Taylor Swift’s record-breaking, nearly two-year-long Eras Tour in July 2023.

At Super Bowl LX, Green Day and Bad Bunny will become the latest musical acts to appear at the stadium: the Bay Area group is to headline the game’s opening ceremony, before the Puerto Rican rapper performs the halftime show.

In Super Bowl LX, the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots face off on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, with kickoff at Levi’s Stadium scheduled for 6:40 p.m. ET/3:40 p.m. PT.
