Update:

Michigan singer Caleb Carroll will perform the US national anthem at Ford Field today, as the Detroit Lions host the Washington Commanders in the Divisional round of the 2024-25 NFL playoffs.

Who is Caleb Carroll?

This won’t be the first time that Carroll has sung the “Star-Spangled Banner” before a Detroit game. Per the Detroit Free Press, the 23-year-old has already performed the anthem ahead of “multiple” Lions clashes at Ford Field, including the team’s Week 1 win over the Los Angeles Rams in September.

According to Carroll’s website, he has been performing on the national stage since 2015, when he was chosen to sing “America the Beautiful” at the US Open tennis tournament in New York.

A resident of West Bloomfield, Michigan, he has also sung the national anthem ahead of regular-season and playoff games involving the NBA franchise the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Commanders vs Lions: when, where, how to watch?

The Lions host the Commanders at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, today, Saturday January 18, 2025. Kick-off is at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT. Viewers in the US can watch the postseason game on FOX and FOX Deportes.

Lions tipped for Super Bowl success

The Lions are making their entrance to the 2024-25 playoffs, having been given a Wild Card-round bye as the NFC’s No. 1 seed. Having finished the regular season with an impressive 15-2 record, Detroit is the bookmakers' favorite to win the Super Bowl in New Orleans in February.

Meanwhile, the Commanders are in the Divisional round after ending a nearly two-decade wait for a playoff win by beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Wild Card stage. Dan Quinn’s men defeated Tampa Bay 23-20 in Florida last Sunday - the Commanders’ first victory in a postseason game since January 2006.
