“This thing is not about Aaron Rodgers”: New York Jets send message about QB’s future
New Jets coach Aaron Glenn has revealed his plans for Rodgers, who has been tipped to retire after a 20-year NFL career.

Aaron Rodgers has been one of the NFL’s standout quarterbacks for two decades, winning Super Bowl XLV with the Green Bay Packers and being named the league’s MVP four times. However, his move to the New York Jets hasn’t exactly gone according to plan, which has called into question his future with the team now coached by Aaron Glenn. The 41-year-old has also been tipped to retire after a 20-season career.
Speaking to the media after being appointed as the Jets’ new head coach on Monday, former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Glenn refused to accept Rodgers would be hanging up his cleats and opened the door to the veteran quarterback being part of his roster by the time the 2025 NFL season gets underway in September.
Aaron Glenn reveals New York Jets' 2025 plan for Aaron Rodgers
“Aaron Rodgers will be talked about,” Glenn revealed early in his unveiling. “We’ve already texted that communication with Aaron Rodgers. And as we continue to look at the roster, we’ll make decisions accordingly and that’s with a number of people on the team”.

“Me and (new general manager) Darren Mougey are going to sit and talk and go over the whole roster. This thing is not about Aaron Rodgers.”
Rodgers' Jets disaster
After 15 years as the Packers’ starting quarterback, Rodgers made the switch to New York ahead of the 2023 season, which he played only one game in due to a serious Achilles injury.
The Californian returned to fill fitness for the 2024 campaign but was unable to lead the Jets into the playoffs. Although Rodgers registered his 500th touchdown pass in Week 18 of the regular season, the franchise finished third in the AFC East with a 5-12 record, which led to coach Robert Saleh losing his job and interim Jeff Ulbrich not being kept on.
