T.J. Watt’s new deal puts him at top of highest paid non-QB list, this is the rest of the list
The Pittsburgh Steelers and T.J. Watt agreed to a three-year contract extension that will keep him in the Steele City and make him the richest non-QB.
Just days before training camp begins, the Pittsburgh Steelers and their superstar pass rusher T.J. Watt agreed to a record breaking contract extension that will make him the highest paid non-QB.
Watt sets new benchmark for non-QBs
Watt inked a three-year deal with the Steelers worth $123 million, which will reel him in $41 million per year. The 31 year old eclipsed Ja’Marr Chase who just signed a deal making him the highest paid non-QB earlier this offseason when he signed a four-year deal worth $161 million.
For a long time it looked like there was going to be a stand off between the Steelers and the former Defensive Player of the Year. Watt was expecting to be offered a new contract this offseason, but the Steelers put negotiations on the back burner, until right before training camp.
It’s been a busy, and lucrative offseason for the non-QBs over the last few months. Starting with Ja’Marr Chase who seemed to trigger an avalanche of contract extensions worth astronomical amounts. Then it was Myles Garrett who set the bar for defensive players when he and the Browns agreed on a four-year deal worth $160 million paying him $40 million a year.
