Tom Brady publicly praised Bill Belichick which isn’t the norm
As much as its been rumored that there was a rift between the two greats of the game, it now seems clear that there is nothing but respect between them.
For years there has been speculation as to whether the legendary quarterback and his equally revered former coach enjoyed a good relationship, with play maker’s comments giving a rare glimpse of admiration could it be that it’s actually the case?
Tom Brady praises Bill Belichick publicly
In a move that must be considered quite rare, Tom Brady offered his public endorsement of veteran coach Bill Belichick. This of course is something that has not commonly been witnessed across TB12′s career without the seven time Super Bowl champion being prompted continuously by journalists. Incidentally, it must be said that the same applies to Belichick who has famously never made a habit of praising any one specific player. Too be clear Brady didn’t go above and beyond with his words of praise, but he did make it clear that his former coach was indirectly responsible for his decision to take on a career in broadcasting, something that is set to happen when the QB leaves the game.
“I love football and I care a lot about football, too. I’m always going to be involved in it one way or the other,” Brady said during an interview that followed “The Match” golf event. “I was thinking about the opportunity to travel around and see these guys on different Friday afternoons and watching them practice and saying, ‘Hey, here’s a couple of things that worked for me.’ [Talking to] different coaches. I was around the most amazing coach, in Coach Belichick, the most amazing coaches over a period of time. I played with Hall of Famers, Randy Moss to Ty Law to Richard Seymour. I feel like I have a lot of knowledge.”
Tom Brady will offer unique perspective as broadcaster
While it’s not like that Brady will offer up the intimate secrets of an on field huddle or details of Belichick’s defensive plans for example, it is highly likely that he will give an insight like no other when it comes to Belichick’s coaching philosophy and the manner in which he constructed the foundation on which a six Super Bowl dynasty was built. Without doubt it was Belichick who was a critical part of the process that saw Tom Brady go from being a great QB to a legend and one who is still continuing to this day.
What happened between Tom Brady and Bill Belichick?
Some of the greatest partnerships in sport have existed between individuals who didn’t like each other. That is not to say, however, that there was hatred between Brady and Belichick, but rather a difference in view. That difference saw the pair bid each other farewell back in 2020 after a staggering 20 seasons together. According to the numerous reports at the time, there were no hard feelings and it was simply a case of Belichick wanting a to build anew with a young quarterback and Brady wanting a new challenge.
It is of course hard to believe that there may not have been some friction when the scenario first played out, but with Brady’s above mentioned comments coupled with the fact that Belichick called Brady “the best player in NFL history” after the QB briefly retired earlier this off-season, it’s clear that it’s just water under the bridge.
Tom Brady looks to give back
Ever a model example of professionalism and and philanthropic qualities, Brady is currently searching for ways in which he can meaningfully give back to the sport that has turned him into a household name. Whether it’s the fame, fortune or the seven Super Bowl rings, the player that’s considered to be the GOAT is all to aware of what he’s given and what he’s received in return. “How do you give back to a sport that’s given so much to me?” Brady said. “I think that I have a lot of education around it, and I’m excited, when that time comes, to fully focus on that and give back to the game in a way that so many people have supported me and taught me things. I think part of the enjoyment and the entertainment of it will be giving back to [the next generation of players] and seeing these guys maximize their opportunity as well.”
