Tom Brady visits Madrid for El Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona

The former NFL star visits the Spanish capital to enjoy the match between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

It’s one of the biggest, if not the biggest game, in world soccer. This Sunday, starting at 3:00 p.m. ET, the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium will be decked out to host another El Clásico, a showdown between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona that promises to be, once again, a sporting spectacle like few others. With Real Madrid leading the league, a victory could extend their lead to 11 points, while a defeat would bring Xavi Hernández’s men within five points at the crucial end of the season.

It’s a blockbuster match that few want to miss. And that includes NFL legend Tom Brady, who is visiting Madrid. The quarterback has been sharing images of his trip to the Spanish capital on his Instagram profile. First, he posted a picture from Alcalá Street with a view of Puerta del Sol, though the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers player tagged the location as Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

He would move on to the stadium later, as in a new story on his profile, he posted an image of the façade of Real Madrid’s stadium, also adding a Spanish flag emoji.

Tom Brady also posted on his Instagram profile a photo in front of the Royal Palace (interesting fact, that’s not where the Royal family actually live - their residence is just outside the capital at the Palace of Zarzuela), and another riding a scooter through the streets of the capital. In a video, he explained in the caption that “I couldn’t find a car in Madrid.”

Tom Brady, just another fan at the Bernabéu

A series of images suggest that the famous quarterback is not just passing through the Spanish capital but is also here to enjoy the spectacle of El Clásico at the Santiago Bernabéu. Notably, the stadium will host an NFL game in 2025, making it an eventful visit for one of the league’s most illustrious figures.

The club announced this through a statement along with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who at a press conference stated, “Playing a game in Madrid in 2025 demonstrates the continuous expansion of the League’s global footprint and the ambition to bring our game to more fans around the world. We are proud to partner with Real Madrid, a global brand, along with the Madrid City Council and the Community of Madrid, to bring a spectacular regular season game to Spain at the world-class Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.”
