Travis Kelce makes big statement on his NFL future
Speaking ahead of Kansas City’s Week 16 clash with the Titans, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce hinted at imminent retirement.
The Chiefs’ season came to an end after last weekend’s painful collapse against the Los Angeles Chargers - a loss that stung twice as much for Kansas City, which not only fell out of contention but also saw Patrick Mahomes go down with an ACL injury.
Now, ahead of this week’s matchup against the Tennessee Titans, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce opened up in his press conference, strongly hinting that this could be his final season in the NFL.
“I’ve got three games left”
“I’d rather just keep the focus of the media and everything on this team right now,” Kelce said on Friday, when asked about the possibility that he has played alongside Mahomes for the final time.
“All the conversations that I have with the team and everything moving forward will be with them.
“I think it’s a unique time in my life. Unfortunately, I’ve got three games left and I know when the season ends this year. Typically, we go into it and we don’t know when it’s going to end. That’s the beauty of it.
“[I’m] just trying to make sure everybody here knows that I’m focused on trying to win football games in these last three games.”
When is Chiefs vs Titans?
In Week 16 of the NFL regular season, the Chiefs visit the Titans on Sunday, December 21, with kickoff at Nissan Stadium scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET/10:00 a.m. PT.
The game will air nationally on CBS. Your streaming options include fubo, which offers new users a free, introductory trial.
