Trump’s sporting whims cause the US taxpayer more financial woes
Donald Trump has attended major sporting events that have been costly for the Secret Service, including the Super Bowl, the US Open, and more.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, comes at a high cost to the Secret Service. According to Front Office Sports, the visit of the head of state to Super Bowl LIX, held in New Orleans, cost approximately $120,000.
According to the report, $65,000 went just to hotel stays, two separate $25,000 payments for lodging services, and another $7,000 to the NFL. In February 2025, Trump became the first sitting president to attend the Super Bowl.
He was only at the Superdome for around five hours and even left the stadium before the Philadelphia Eagles lifted the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Unlike other sitting presidents, Trump has focused on attending more sporting events, with the Super Bowl not being the only one where the Republican has shown up. In July, he attended the Club World Cup final in New York City, where Trump witnessed Chelsea lift the trophy as tournament champions.
Trump also attended the Daytona 500, the NCAA Division I men’s wrestling championship, UFC 314 and 316, the Club World Cup final, the men’s singles final at the US Open, and a Yankees game on September 11.
The traveling group included Trump, his son Eric and his wife Lara, his daughter Ivanka, one of his grandchildren, then-National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
